AGP FMIC & Nisei LICP Pics, Testing, & Review

AGP is best known for their Made in the USA turbos and turbo accessories, particularly for the SRT-4. Recently, they expanded to the Evo community, offering a large 24x12x3.5 inch bar and plate core front mount intercooler, completely bolt on.

Nisei is also known for their intercoolers, piping, and other accessories. I was impressed by both their exceptional product catalog, great reviews, and (in the case of the 1018 lower intercooler pipe) the affordable price.

I ordered the FMIC from TKMotorsports ( Feedback ), and did not incur any issues at all with the ordering process. TK was quick to respond to my initial PM and quick to accept payment and ship the item. The intercooler was packaged very well, and did not incur any shock damage.

I ordered the LICP from MotionGarage ( Website ), and did not incur any issues at all with the ordering process. In fact, I received an e-mail that the item could not ship for a few days, and for the delay, they would discount the shipping by $10. I was very impressed and happy to do business with MotionGarage. The LICP was packaged very well and did not incur any shock damage.

Included were four steel clamps, two short silicone couplers, mounting hardware, and instructions. Since this intercooler is wider than stock, the inlet and outlet tips are essentially an inch or less away from the respective inlet and outlet pipes.

The core is very solid, and looks top notch when viewed from the side.

Installing the intercooler was pretty straight forward. Removal of the bumper and undertray are necessary. I was also installing a Nisei 1018 LICP at the same time as this FMIC, while retaining the stock UICP. The Nisei is a top notch piece. Where the stock tubing tapers down and bends unnecessarily, the Nisei is solid, smooth pipe with no taper, no unnecessary bends, and only a reducer to fit the pip to the turbo outlet.

The crash beam fit perfectly, with no rubbing at all. Everything went back together very smoothly, with exception to the undertray. For a proper fit, trimming of the undertray is absolutely, 100% necessary.. You can re-mount the tray on the outsides using the stock (crappy) body clips, however the center is pushed down so much that I had to use zip ties to keep the undertray somewhat close to it's proper position.

And now, of course, the road test. Right before I began the install at 11:30AM this morning, I did a baseline, on-road datalog to see what EvoScan and DataLogLab would determine my horsepower and torque to be with the stock FMIC and LICP. Right after the install at 4:00PM, I did a second run and compared the two. Much to my delight, the combination of the AGP FMIC and the Nisei LICP gave me a hefty 23whp and 18tq throughout the power band! The most noticable difference for me was flooring it in 4th gear at low speed and feeling the torque almost immediately.

All, in all, I'm extremely happy with my purchases. Thanks again to TKMotorsports and MotionGarage for their excellent service and pricing. I hope this has been of help to someone. Feel free to PM or post any questions to may have regarding these products or the install process.

Only on the LICP bolting up to the turbo outlet. The others are the standard clamps that came with the FMIC

Good job testing. There is a definate increase in the delta, though your base numbers are low for a car with your mods. But the delta is what counts in these types of road dynos.

with those mods and using the ecuscan for hp, your power should be way more than that, but the i.c looks good

Nice write up/review. I have the same LICP on my car and I have the AGP FMIC waiting to be installed. Do you have pics of the modified undertray?

I see that's the steel licp....is it powder coated or painted? I see a huge jump in price for the aluminum one vs the steel one. I'd just hate for stuff to start rusting. Nice buys though!!

I have the steel one and it appears to be powdercoated. Excellent fitment on the steel version and the price of the aluminum one was not worth it to me.

Just a heads up. I have that licp also. I love it by the way. Make sure the clamp is tight on the side that connects to the ic. IMO the end is not rolled or flared big enough. It keeped popping off on me no mateer what. T clamps, silicon couplers, stock coupler. I had to flare out the inside of the pipe for the t clamp to grip it.
