23 PSI without any boost contoller!?

Here is the thing; my car is running 23 psi without any boost controller.

The only mods are:
3" no cat turbo back exhaust
Exhaust Mainfold

S-AFC setings:
-20% @ 7500
-18% @ 6500
-15% @ 5500
-10% @ 4500
-5% @ 3500

EGT is 500 C @ between runner 1-2

Question?
Is it ok for the car to run 23psi by itself?
Can / Should i try to turn it down to say 20 all across the rpms?

When you lower exhaust backpressure, you increase turbo pressure.

By running no cat and a big exhaust, you're probably doing it that way.

What is the boost dropping down to. My boost pressure increased about 1.5psi when I installed my exhaust. It dropped back down to 17.5 though.

Is your boost staying constant at 23psi or is it just a spike to that level? I know one of my friends had a boost spike problem on his DSM and solved it by adding a boost controller. Have you looked into one? If your boost is staying constant, I would agree it was caused by your exhaust. You can turn it down if you want, but why? If the car is running fine I would just leave it.

i wouldn't worry about it either......you may want to check your a/f ratios though and adjust that safc accordingly. probably time to hit the old dyno. or you could just run some quick calculations based on other peoples air fuel ratios and adjust according to your boost curve.

I didn't think it was safe to run 23PSI on 93 or 94 octane?

Pruven in CT milford. I don't know of any more in your area. There will be a new shop in RI very soon.

19PSI on 100 RON in Japan, and you have 23PSI on 93 RON???? Check your boost solenoid!

Your exhaust temp is at 500 C, is that at idle or when you are driving? If its while you are driving then something is very wrong!!!! way too much fuel or the sensor is jacked up!!!! Also think about 23psi on your stock headgasket, probably not a good idea. Thats like 1.56 bar. By the way I'm assuming you have a boost gauge thats how u know? I know u said the only mod was exhaust but do you have bigger injectors too? The reason I ask is b/c your settings look kinda weird. If you don't have a boost controller than how are you planning on turning it down to 20psi across the board?

That is the misconception that boost pressure will blow the head off, BS. It could handle 30PSI down the track if you ask. If you are scared run ARP head bolts and studs to keep yourself happy. It can be done on a 2G DSM, and the EVO motor is way stronger.

Detonation is what blows a head gasket off or send a rod through the block, not the PSI. So tuning is key, and 23PSI without any significant tuning is too much, turn it down to 20PSI tops.

Pruven is over 2 hours away for most of us in Mass. There's a new AWD dyno being set up in Ayer, Mass. And yes, rumor has it that Yarrow is bringing his AWD dyno out of storage and setting up shop in The Providence, RI area.

Nice to have choices like they do in CA.
