electronic VS. mechanical gauges

electronic VS. mechanical gauges

whats the difference between an eletronic and a mechanical gauge? i want to get Apex'i gauges but there is a approx $100 difference between the two.

both are basically the same thing. mechanical gauges read and determine the signal (whether it be pressure/vacuum) inside the gauge itself - there for you have to run the signal inside the car. electric gauge has a sending unit that reads the signal but is mounted in the engine bay and then simply sends a wire inside the car to the gauge. if you wanna keep oil/feul/air out of your interior go with an eletrical gauge. i dont really know whats the benefit versus each other. ive got both mechanical and electrical gauges in my car.

Electrical Gauges suck. not A/F gauges because they have to be electrical, but electric boost, EGT... they have stepping motors and are very hard to get working right. in my opinion, where there is room for something to break, it will. mechanical gauges are simple and accurate and they work
