cosworth exhaust cam to big???

hey has any body with 9s had a problem with the cosworth exhaust cam??? mine was to big and it was pushing the valves open and they would get stuck the a couple sec later pop up. So i put the stock exhaust cam back in and the car fired right up no problems but now the car is misfiring at low rmps. the intake cams works fine i still have it in

That's weird, I haven't heard one thing about Cosworths not fitting properly. Are you sure you installed it correctly?

I have cosworth 272's and they work great. If you still have the box they were shipped in post up the part #, I have my old cams in the coswoth boxes so maybe I could compare part #'s for you when I get off work tonight.

didn't cosworth have a bad batch of cams that needed to be filed down in order to fit? I remember reading about that somewhere on these boards. . .check with the original vendor you purchased from, I didn't follow it that much since I have an VIII

idk if they had a bad batch or not but.... i know that for a fact the the cam pushed the valves down to far and the springs couldnt pop them back up. and the intake cam was fine just the exhaust

just get a set of calipers on it and measure the lob on the stock cam vs. the lob on the cossie cam
the cossie should only be about 1 mm. taller. if it's way more than that something is up.

it seems strange though since the exhaust cam is the same for an 8 or 9 fitment wize.
i could see getting the intake wrong but not the exhaust.

bleeding down the lifters is probably a good place to start after double checking the measurments

ps. i just installed a set of these on my car 2 weeks ago and everything was fine but i did bleed the lifters.

good luck

well i made sure every thing was lined up then i installed the cam put every thing back together made sure again everything was lined up then tried to turn on the car and it wouldnt start witchj i thought was werid... since every thing was good so i took of the valve cover and turned the crank and watched the valve get stuck but a couple sec later they would pop back up.(only on the exhaust cam side)... so i took out the exhaust cam put the stock one back in and the car fired right up. But now it was running like **** so i took out the intake cam put the stock one and it still ran like **** so i did a compression test and piston 1 had 0 compression all the rest were 130. so now i have a bent valve i almost got the head pulled off but i dont know if i should call the vender or cosworth. because personaly i dont think this is my fault all the timing was right and i had one of my friends there and he was a certified tech. he also said there must be something wrong with the cam.
