APS 3.5 turbo back and other mods?
APS 3.5 turbo back and other mods?
Hello,
I just recieved a new EVO IX and after putting some miles in it I will send it to a tuner who is offering the following:
For tuning we use Ecu-tek www.ecutek.com if you would like to visit there
web-site and read info on how powerful the tuning software is for your Ecu.
Our packages if you would like to do , Includes , Greddy Easy Cams , 1 step
colder plug , Aps 3.5inch turboback , Hks racing suction intake , walbro
255lt fuel pump , perrin fuel rail , Denso 720cc fuel injectors.
Does anyone have any idea home much more HP will I get with this mods? He is offering about 130 extra HP.
Does anyone know how loud is this exhaust? What about Droning?
Thanks for all the help.
Francisco

Fvaldes, unless you have no other options due to being in Mexico, I would highly recommend NOT wasting your money on that package. That's a LOT of money for things you DON'T need. Look at the package in my sig and see if it works for you, then compare the cost. You don't have to get that exact package, but be sure to get the same kind of mods. The package you're looking at is poor, because you don't need:
- Perrin fuel rail (why???)
- 720cc injectors (no way)
- EcuTek (HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO!!) - you don't have to pay $750 for a flash. EcuTek is a thing of the past. We have EcuFlash now, which is FREE SOFTWARE, so if you pay a tuner to flash you, it should only cost $200-400 MAX. EcuTek costs $650 minimum.
As far as the other mods go, what are "Greddy Easy Cams"? Did Greddy release cams for the IX recently? If so, I sure haven't seen any results yet. There has been tons of testing on the GSC and Cosworth cams for the IX - I would suggest choosing between those, because the Greddy cams have not been used by hardly anyone. The HKS intake is up to you, but that's a lot of money that could be used elsewhere.
Also, why doesn't the package include an MBC? The exhaust is good, but overpriced. It's loud, but so is any full exhaust. If you're worried about droning in a 3" full catless exhaust, then you shouldn't be looking for full catless exhausts. Any exhaust like that is going to drone - I'm not actually sure why people always worry about that. I couldn't care less about droning on the highway - I care about the power.

Thank you very much. Eventhough I am new to turb o engines, I have been reading a lot and what you say makes total sense. I asked the tuner about some things you mentioned and his responses were kind of poor.
Prior to talking to him I was interested in Buschur Power Package which included everything for a good ammount of hp.
So I guess I will keep on with my original plan to get a buschur stage.
Just for your you to know, the tuner was asking 7000k for all the mods including labor.
Thanks again.

HAHA, 7 THOUSAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy crap!!! Tell him to stick that package up his *** - literally.
For that cost, you could do bolt-ons + turbo upgrade + clutch + install.

I WILL tell him that. I was checking for the individual prices of the parts he suggested and most of them are 20 cheaper somewhere else compared to the prices he is quoting.
thanks!
thanks!
