Turbine stops to blow at 5-6K rpm

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have a problem I have Evolution IX (it's not a problem yet, hold on...). Everything was fine untill 3-4 days ago I've noticed when driving on the 1-4 gear turbo stops to blow at 6K rpm and when driving on 5-6 gear - at 5K rpm. So full throttle at 4K rpm an we have nice 1.5 bar boost until the rpm limit. Then we have 0.5 bar (according to the Defi guages). Physically car stops to accelerate as well. Me and all of the mechanics are completely lost... What can it be?

Thanks!

It seems unlikely that the turbo "stops" when the RPMs get higher. You probably have a boost leak that occurs under heavy load.

Do you have a stock intake? check to make the clips on the intake snorkle are in place if not, the plastic flange will bend up and block the airflow at high rpm/load.

yes you have a major boost leak, check your intercooler piping and replace the crappy stock clamps w/ some high quality torque clamps.

o hobie, ur so smart.

well in fact a turbo can stall, but this is not whats happening here. its pretty obvious that u have some sort of boost leak in the system somewhere. check all the fittings as well as the stock solinoid. you should be able to hear it, i mean u are loosing 14.5 psi somewhere. listen for a loud hiss.

+1. Check this first. It's a fairly common problem.

this happened to me, when my downpipe was too close to my lower intercoolerpipe and the exhaust was melting a tiny whole in the flex pipe

Actually it was cheap TRUST air filter. It sucked some water and changed internal structure once and forever... So after drying it stopped passing by air at high rpm when engine needs A LOT of the air. Replaced with the INJEN kit and everytjing is fine now.

Thanks a lot to the everybody
