ETS guys,

Quick questions for you in regards to IC design:

Have you ever seen the ARC intercooler and the tapered edges to the entries on the internal cooling tubes/fins, both inside and outside of the core?

How hard would it be to weld tapered edges into the ICs where air enters the IC on the inside and/or outside, preferably the inside? I would imagine that it would be a waste of money for the amount of time that it would take, if it were even possible?

The only reason I ask is because I don't like how 99% of the IC cores on the market have completely flat edges, so the airflow basically hits a wall in these areas. A tapered edge would allow so much more efficient airflow and probably a much smaller pressure drop.

Don't get me wrong. I love your IC and when I do plan to upgrade, I think you will be getting my business. I was just curious what you guys thought? It may even make a negligible difference, but I know it makes sense in terms of fluid flow and fluid dynamics.

Pretty now... but one rain and it'll be nice and dull.

Who makes the core?

well this goes for my particular case....but the ETS intercooler did not have any pressure drop at all....in fact it raised my boost by 3psi in some areas and I had to get retuned for the intercooler.

It is a great buy....makes the car feel like it is driving in cold weather 24/7

There are several buffing wheels used and a TON of elbow grease to get them that shiny. It's mostly just the time necessary to get it right, the tools are the easy part

It does make good common sense but is a good part of the reason the ARC is so expensive. The moderate to significant increase in production cost and thus end user pricing we feel is not worth the miniscule gains in flow that would result. As mentioned, when running our intercoolers at anything less than their absolute maximum capacity, the pressure drop is extremely minimal. Even at full tilt they do incredibly well. After several years of different core testing and results, we've determined that the core we designed and currently use is the best possible bang for our customers' performance buck.

If you're worried about dulling, hit the endtanks and top/bottom plates with a rattle can clearcoat and it will retain its shine for years to come without any maintenance

The core is our own bar and plate design. If you'd like to hear more details on the way we've designed the internal/external fins for maximum efficiency while retaining flow both internally and to the radiator just give us a call!

You'll be even happier if you ever decide to really push the limits of pump fuel and relatively high boost I can see the informercial now with the Oxy Clean guy doing a "Knock Be Gone" ad!

I'm debating between this or the Buschur Race Core, but I think I'm being swayed more towards the ETS unit for the simple fact of not having to do any modifications to get the piece to fit (plus, I want to keep the stock undertray).

Does this work with aftermarket intercooler pipes? I'm currently running the Buschur LICP and will at some point down the road upgrade the UICP as well - I just want to make sure there are no problems with fitment.

So the next round of upgrades looks like: O2 housing, exhaust manifold, cams, and now an upgraded intercooler as well...

My wife isn't going to be too thrilled with this...

It is nice to be able to bolt up a 4" intercooler to stock or stock replacement piping AND keep your undertray in place without mods. You can use any stock replacement lower and upper intercooler piping as long as it's ours (kidding).

We can get you a great deal on everything in your next round so give us a call and we'll make it an easy one stop shop.

The wife will like that you got the best deal you could given that you were going to purchase the parts anyway

Tom,

Do you recommend any particular brand of clear you've had good experiences with?

Can the undertray be kept with all the 3 different sized intercoolers?

We've always had great luck with all Dupli-Color products if you're going rattle can.

We've actually got 3", 3.5", 4" and 5" thick intercoolers and the undertray can be retained with all four of them
