Question Oil Pressure/temp

I finally got around to connecting the senders to the oil distribution housing. ( The HOW-TO was very helpfull ) and now i have some questions. The gauges are Autometer Sport Comp 2 and they are electric not mechanical. They are also half sweep. The oil pressure gauge tops out at 100 psi. Under full boost though i am seeing the gauge go past the 100 psi mark... so did i get the wrong gauge or did i screw up the install? What PSI should i be at under highway conditions? And what is the appropriate oil temp once the car is at the target operating temp?

thanks

I have DEFI gauges, but haven't hooked up the oil temp/pressure sensors yet. I'll be taking it to AMS for TBE and some other stuff, when they hook it up I could tell you if that seemed normal...

I think it's ~85 psi for an VIII, 90 psi for a IX. Operating temp depends on how you drive and climate, but I see 200-220F during my normal agressive driving, and 220-240 F when I'm ripping through canyons.

Autometer gauges are decent products, but I think your pressure sensor is reading high and that's not unusual for sub $100 gauges. As long as it keeps rising to the max you're okay.

I replaced 3 failed Stewart Warner senders until I switched to a more durable VDO sender that matches the specs of my SW gauge.

i have AEM gauges and my oil pressure does the same thing. you dont have the gauge so much to tell you your high pressure but it is there to let you know when you have pressure drop or loss, that way you can shut off your motor without f@^*%n it up. i was told at higher rpms your oil pressure will rise above 100 psi so that is ok. your gauges are fine.
