Purchase a mechanics stethoscope and have a listen on your valve cover. If you are too cheap to buy one, just take a big flathead screwdriver and put the tip of it to the valve cover (or in/ex manifold) and put your ear on the handle. This will allow you to hear whats going on inside. Good luck. Stories like these make me want to steer clear of Summit! Was it the mustang's fault or yours? Good luck!

don't steer clear of summit b/c of me. It was my fault. It was mechanical failure in an already edgey situation. It's in my video if you care to see it. (go to my website in sig, go to photos page, click on "chronicles of the flatline lancer" vid at top.

btw, thanks on the stethoscope idea, but I've already pulled off the oil fill cap to see if it got louder... but it didn't really. Maybe a stethoscope might help some though... especially if it's some crazy hard to find exhaust leak.

Wow it looked like your front tires locked up causing you to understeer right into the mustang on the outside. I feel for you man, how bad is the frame damage? Any welding or cutting need to be done? I was thinking about buying a wrecked Evo for track use (so I don't have to worry about wrecking it again hehe), I'm too much of a wimp to bring my pristine 03 out to real road course.

actually, I think we've narrowed it to green fade. Logs show no sign of slowing upon applying brakes, coupled w/ brake feel: conclusion of green fade.

I dont think the frame is damaged, but the cosmetic brackets that hold up the headlight will need to be bent back or welded or something. lol, not gettin' rid of her that easily! C'mon! you can take your pretty lancer out, they just love the road course!
