20g stage 1 @lancershop

The upgrade "EVO 9 20G Turbo stage 1 10.5 Single Upgrade " Any one tested this turbo from them, any problems?

It claims to be rated at 450hp. Any feedback on this would be great...

here is the link http://lancershop.com/customer/produ...&cat=17&page=1

This same question has been asked about this same turbo. It's not new - it's actually old and outdated.

Alright thanks. I did a search and did not come up with anything. There are so many turbo questions and different kinds version or setups of the 20g that to find this same question was in no way easy...but I could be wrong someone always has a way...

I wanted to know if anyone has had problems with this setup from "lancershop" not that if it was new or outdated...

If you scroll through all of Lancershop´s turbo offerings you´ll find the Forced Performance(FP) Evogreen turbo. The "Green", is the current state of the art in bolt on stock-like turbo upgrades. This is the turbo that you want, not the particular 20G that you are asking about.

But don´t purchase it from Lancershop. Buy the EvoGreen directly from Forced Performance Turbochargers, or better yet, order it from Buschur Racing(BR) where it is also known as the Buschur Racing 20G-LT turbo.

Both the Evogreen and the BR 20G-LT are the same identical turbo. They have a 5-bladed 20G aluminum billet compressor wheel and a larger, lower backpressure turbine wheel. The other 20G that you asked about is assembled by Turbochargers.com. It is less desirable than the Evogreen/BR 20G-LT. It has a 6-bladed compressor wheel and the same dinky higher backpressure turbine wheel that you have in your current Evo VIII turbo.

I realize that there is a considerable price difference between the EvoGreen and the "other" 20G. But, you get what you pay for. If the Evogreen is a bit expensive for you at the present time, then I´d suggest upgrading to the stock Evo IX turbo. Stay away from the "other" 20G.

Lancershop doesn't make anything - they are just an Internet ***** shop that sells everybody else's stuff. That turbo you are referencing is the one from Turbochargers.com. it is a 6-blade POS 20g-9 that is basically worthless in today's market and never really was worth much anyway, although a few people were fooled into buying it.

Just search for that TC.com 6-blade 20g to see the reviews. Focus on Ted B's personal experience - he's a guru.

Warrtalon gives you a worthwhile reference. I´d forgotten that TedB had installed the 20G-9-6 and done dyno comparisons pitting it against his TME 6.5 turbo. He(TedB) ended up tossing it into a dumpster, as the TME whumped its behind. Don´t waste your money on the 20G-9-6.

Call Buschur and order the BR 20G-LT(Green). Although you may have to wait a couple weeks...it´ll be worth it.

I see the same turbo from BR is 1700$ or 900 if you send it yours? The one from lancershop is garabage compared to BR's or what?

What is a great Stock looking Turbo upgrade for the Evo IX that isnt rediculous in price?

The 20G-LT/FP EvoGreen is $1700 new, and $1000 if you send in your IX for an upgrade. The one from Lancershop isn't from Lancershop. They just sell everybody's elses junk, and that particular turbo is from Turbochargers.com. It's a 20g based off a 9 and has a 6-blade wheel, which is junk.

The only worthwhile stock-based turbo upgrade for the IX is the 20g-LT, or the rare TME 20G-9.

To Run a 20G BR set up safely, what other Mods do I need?

I have:

AMS TBE w/high flow cat, AMS intake filter, boost controller, walbo pump, AMS Tune.

Will I require a larger intercooler first?

MRWINS, please read the tons of threads talking about not only this turbo, but also the required supporting mods. *sigh*

Yeah, you should upgrade the IC. You're gonna need bigger injectors(750's, or 780's). An O2 housing upgrade, and a ported exhaust manifold would be nice. GSC or Cosworth cams will be needed. You might wanna add a 35 PSI boost gauge too.
