One cannot realistically compare cams by comparing gross duration numbers (e.g. 269, 268, etc.). It just doesn't work, unless maybe one is looking at cams from a single manufacturer. Elements such as lift, effective duration, ramp rates, lobe centerlines and such all factor into the equation - heavily.

In any case, I'd hardly consider the prospect of going to a set of HKS cams with a ported head as an upgrade. Again, just FYI.

why is everyone always talking about the hks cams still, they were great when they were the only things available but all the new cams are way better than them, i would say stay away from the hks cams, get some gsc's but whatever

Yeah it seams to be mostly east coast guys and those who dont fallow many dyno posts cause there is about 10000000000 threads on here of people picking up power all over the boards with other cams. I think I am going with the S1's. S1's + TME + prepped head=

I wasnt comparing them based on duration. Just pointing out that they are what some might consider rather small but people are still getting VERY good numbers out of them........like jbfoco's car. He is making over 400hp on a very low reading dyno and a very conservative tune, when most people around her are making the same numbers on dyno jet dyno's with less under the curve and 272-280 hks cams.
