Hey guys i just got done installing the Injen Intake, Upper intercooler piping and lower intercooler piping. Now the question is why the heck is my stock BOV sounding like an aftermarket one....i mean its way to LOUD......Just wondering is this normal after the Injen intake, UIC piping and LIC piping install? The car is idleing right i dont hear any boost leak or anything. I do hear the Turbo spool up faster and better and its sure gotten loud. BUT is it normal for the Stock BOV to sound that loud. I mean it blows off. i can hear it inside the car. Sounds cool but just wondering if everything is normal or not......PLEASE HELP guys.

ANyone else using injen intake and the Intercooler hard piping....do u guys like it.

Thankz...

NORMAL. Anytime you put on an open element intake your gonna hear everything you didnt with the stock box. Like the rush of air into the turbo (turbo spool),your DV (BOV) sound. It is completely normal.BTW this is the first time i have ever heard anyone, especially a newbie say that there bov was too loud.Usually its just the opposite. They want to go to an aftermarker one to hear that sound. Then all they do is complain about turbo surge or bov flutter. You have it made brother, stock bov that sounds great along with the stock like driveability.

Because it's the intake that makes BOVs loud, not just the BOV itself. That's why we tell people who ask how to get the BOV sound to just get an intake.

A lot of people are using the Injen stuff - didn't you search to make sure before purchasing? It's shiny stuff that doesn't make much power, because it follows the stock IC piping route.

Hey warrtalon, thanx for the reply. BTW i have heard a lot of things about u...good things ofcourse....that u know ur stuff and good at it. Actually the reason i picked Injen is cuz a lot of my friends and ppl online have wrote good things about Injen, plus i got a good deal on it $340 for the intake piping + filter, Upper intercooler and lower intercooler piping. Sounds like a good deal to me....what do u say man? So im guessin ur not a big fan of Injen, right? Let me know wut u think. And about the BOV bein too loud, thats normal right? i mean i love the sound but still curious if i hooked everything up right or not.
I've heard ppl say that they hooked up the BOV wrong and stuff went wrong (thats what im worried about). But im pretty sure i hooked everything right.

Please let me know what u think...

Thanks for the reply!!!

A diverter valve is basically the samething as a bov. When someone uses the term diverter valve just think bov and you will be fine. (LOL)The stock bov diverts the excess boost back into the intake. A bov releases it into the atmosphere, even though it can be made to be diverted back into the intake like stock. Recirculating back into the intake is the way to go with our set-up. Meaning the MAF (mass airflow sensor. Venting to the atmosphere with the maf will make the car run like crap, like terrible idle and stalling. Hope i explained that right.

Quote: Diverter valve??? first of all i dunno what and where it is? and second wut do u want me to do wit it??? please explain since im a noob.....Thanx Post pics if u can
Well you asked what a DV was...I responded I guess you really are a noob. Anyways the DV is right by your intake (the shiny silver pipe with a air filter attached, right next to the blinker fluid reservoir ) It releases the excess pressure from your turbo (the thing that makes that hiss noise when you floor it) back into the intake (explanation above) Most people call it a BOV but the correct term for it is a Diverter Valve. Hope that is descriptive enough.

The only thing thats wrong is you spend money on it and it doesnt do anything much different than stock because like warrtalon said it follows the stock IC piping route.

For IC pipes you want to have the shortest route possible to/from the intercooler to the motor for the best results.....other than that your just getting some bling for your dollar

Shortest Route???

So whats the shortest route? I mean is there any other way of doing it? I mean u cant go shorter than what is provided, can u? The pipes are there im just replacing the rubber pipes, plus the stock piping is too small (diameter wise) but the injen ones are wide and less bends. What do u mean by "U wanna go the shortest route possible? PLEASE EXPLAIN !!! Thanks Bro

Well for the upper you would want to run a mini battery kit which will allow you to run your pipe in a shorter route, not as many bends..etc. Buschur, AMS, Nisei, ETS, etc all run an uicp with a mini battery which cuts of a decent amount of length and bends from the upper charge piping.

The lower not much you can really do....straight into a 180 into the ic will cut a few inches off because the stock licp does a few weird bends that arent necessary.

Getting rid of the rubber pieces and having an uicp that runs the same route as the stocker again is more for show than performance, the only way to get the benefit of a good charge pipe system is to make the shortest and most direct route possible (eliminating unnecessary bends) to the intercooler and out to the throttle-body.
