Haha... no problem. Let us know how that BoostPro tester works out. Its looks like a nice piece, but I've never heard an actual review.

Well, you really can't. I mean if its something major like a vacuum hose disconnected (like butt3r had) you might notice less psi on your boost gauge. Or I remember when I first installed my Autometer boost gauge, the vacuum hose on the gauge t-fitting kept blowing off. I'd have to pull the car over and as soon as I popped the hood I could actually hear all the air getting sucked in the loose vacuum hose (car is at idle). Yeah, that was a big boost leak.

For "normal" small boost leaks, you won't notice it on your boost gauge or be able to hear it with the car running. For leaks like that you'll need a boost leak tester and a spray bottle filled with soapy water. Without the car idling, you might be able to hear leaks you didn't notice before. Some you won't be able to hear at all... thats where the spray bottle comes in. With the intake system pressurized, spray all piping from the compressor outlet to the manifold. You'll find leaks by watching for any bubbles forming on the intercooler piping.

You think the lil freak low boost was just from sitting?

Also to add to the question I remember reading this some time back.. I want to clean my i/c, but i cant remember what chemical was recommended. I remember some people said use gas and rinse but others disagreed.

thanks again guys
No, it was not just from sitting. The load on the engine in 5th gear caused the turbo to spike higher. Normally on a car with no leaks, the difference from 3rd gear to 4th gear is around 3 psi. Your turbo made more boost, lost the same amount as 3rd gear through whatever problem or leak you have, and the rest made it into the engine.

you dont have to do a boost leak check...ive never done a boost leak check and found all my leaks ive had before.

just take off the front bumper and check all the pipes and clamps etc...i had a big boost leak and only boosted 9psi.took off front bumper and one of my silicones hoses had a rip in it...just check you boost lines, pipes, clamps, hoses etc...

its really not that hard...sometimes the hose or pipe may just come loose...thats what happened to me everytime
