TBE and drop in filter with no tune...

I just picked up a IX and already want to add on mods. I want to get a TBE and a drop in filter and was wonder if, 1) i could drive around w/o a tune for a while and 2) would i notice a power difference w/o a tune. If your wondering why I dont get a tune, its becuz i wont have the money till next month

Stick it out and wait for a tune or just buy a power package if you can get one. It shouldn't hurt but you will be happier if you stick it out.

You will notice better performance with a TBE and a stock ecu. You can drive it all day long without a tune, and nothing bad will happen. When you save some more money, then go get a dyno tune. And you will have a new appreciation for the car.

it should be fine, but get it tuned asap to get the potential out of it.

I've looked at those packages from buschur, are the flashes they do as good as a tune?

it will not hurt athing. You will notice gains but a tune will max out the mod.

I ran a tbe and drop in for months, nothing bad really happened..just the CEL. But thats just there cuz of the cat delete. Getting it tuned will be great for the car in many ways. Your car will love you for it.

They only time I believe you'll really "need" a tune is when you install an intake system. UICP and LICP should be fine without a tune, but once you get a intake pipe and cone filter, your going to need a tune.

Just make sure you go the path you really want to or you will do like many others and end up going a different route and spending more money. Get used to the car and the power first and learn how to drive it well. The driver mod is priceless. Then determine what you want out of the car and then go for it.

1.yes
2.most likely, but not to full potential.

Get a cheaper TBE, skip drop-in, and get tuned at a shop.

Look into a Jester Flash. He does great on simple bolt ons like you want (tbe, drop in) and it is wayyyyy cheaper than getting a full tune.
