Mini-Battery Research

So I did some battery research on some different forums after I purchased a mini-battery mount with no battery.

First thing, I found out that Braille is actually a Deka Battery. These Deka batteries sell for $50-70 new.
I am including a website to show the various sizes.

This is a good read on VWvortex regarding someone's research on the subject.

Braille seems pretty expensive and I was surprised that they are using the same battery, but this seems to be common industry practice just like Buschur seems to use the Odyssey PC680 for their battery.

I have used the PC680 and was very happy it on my Evo VIII. My plan is to put on in on the Evo IX, either a Deka etx20l (similar in dimension to PC680) or the Odyssey. The difference is that I have an amp JL Audio 250/1 and a 10" JL Audia W6 sub with the stock audio system that I want to power with this little battery. It seems others have done it, but I'd like to know what others have experienced.

Also, are there any other small batteries that are used besides these two?

Quite a few people have the Deka ETX14 and have no problems. I have a JL monoblock amp powering 1 JL w0 10" sub with no issues. Just don't run the stereo off the battery for very long.

I run the ETX12 with no problems. I do use a battery tender if the car sits more than 5 days though, just to be on the safe side.

I also ran a Braille battery for 2 1/2 years in 2 different STIs with no problems either.

Damn! You ran the etx12? Only 180 cca? How does that battery perform on winter starts? I'm looking at the specs and loving how small and how light it is tipping the scales at just over 9 pounds. If you never have had problems starting your car I'll order one! Weight reduction FTMFW!

Car starts right up every time, even in the dead of winter.
A battery tender is absolutely essential though if the car sits for a period of time outside.

My car usually never sits for any period of time so it shouldn't be a problem. SWEET! I'm gonna have a 9 pound battery

^^^ I'd stick with the ETX-14, which is only like 2 lbs more, but with more CCA.

If you're that worried about those 2 pounds, skip that next Big-Mac...
