Personally, if you spent all that money on the kit, I'd have someone like Shiv at Vishnu do a custom tune for you.

I checked the Apexi US..the Power FC is coming for the EVO VIII I have one mine...it's easy to use and very flexible for future upgrades... Only one problem I can think of is the Commander is little out dated GameBoys' have better/easier to read LCD display screens

people need to look around and go to google and shiet and go to performance shops and ask questions. motec isnt the only answer. there are many many more tuning options. many many more.

i have heard that apex is charging dealers $1500.00 to learn how to work it... thats weird to here that from a big comany like apexi?
i have some 240sx friends that did it with there motor swaps and were not very happy... more hassle then it is worth, but some one still needs to try one when it comes out to prove me wrong

Standalones are hassles. Period. AEM does not have an EMS application for the Evolution yet, but they claim it will be done shortly. They also claimed that of the Lancer/3g Eclipse RS ECU and it came out in April...though they said it was done on their website as of January. Expect hell with a standalone. If you get less than that, then you don't have my luck. The benefits of standalones are awesome, but the cons are the intricacy of tuning and hassles that may arise from it. Whatever you decide...good luck.

turboxs is gonna come out with a UTEC for the EVO very shortly. the UTEC has done wonders for the WRX adding 30+hp from a simple 30 min install. it'll cost around $1000, and the best part is that it comes with a harness so you dont have to cut any wires on the ecu. with the WRX UTEC, you get 5 fuel maps, along with 2 extra that are Valet Mode (keeps rpms at 3000 and doesnt allow the car to go over 45 mph, and also keeps boost at like 7 psi) and Security Mode (makes the car inoperable whenever you're in a bad neighborhood or something). it comes with many other features too (closed loop boost, datalogger, etc.) and you can download programs from turboxs.com like their newest program, Launch Control, which adds a second limiter and allows you to build boost off the line and have amazing launches, with wot shifting (you dont have to let off the gas while you shift, perfectly safe for your tranny as the rpms drop to desireable setting automatically
