Is there a way to buy JUST the compressor housing. I've heard that ball bearing turbos are not rebuildable. this is a gt35r from ams by the way.

I would contact them (AMS) and forward this pic as well...they might be able to help you or point you in the right direction to finding a replacement like you are inquiring about.

if you an AMS turbo kit, most likely the turbo was purchased from precision. Contact them and if you cant get anywhere, contact them. www.precisionturbo.net

you really need to find out what & how debris got into the turbo, so the problem doesnt happen again.

did you run without a airfilter? check the hardware in & around your inlet tube & airfilter/maf, etc.

Since your compwheel is screwed, why not send your turbo into Forced Performance for an upgrade to their new HTA 35R compressor wheel? Otherwise call Harry Hruska at Precision Turbo & Engine, or Blouche Turbo. Any of these shops should be able to replace and rebalance your compressor wheel.

You can just change out to another compressor wheel.

not on the 35r series turbo you have to change the cartridge and possibly the compressor housing if it is worn if it is not changed and is worn the spool up will be later and you will need more boost to make the same power as a new one.

I'd call Robert at Forced Performance and see if he could just sell you the compressor wheel and a VSR rebalance if that's all that's damaged on your turbo.

If there's damage to the CHRA (bearings or such from major imbalance), Garrett has a CHRA replacement program that sells you a full center section at a substantial discount, if you have to go that route. Details here:

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...BBService.html

Tial is one of the Garrett distributors, I recall, and they could give you more details.

if it was a full Garrett he could exchange the chra for a new one at a reduced price, it's part of garretts new 'warranty' program

the shortage of GT3582R CHRA's doesn't really help the situation right now though

Just buy an IX turbo on these forums. You can get them for as low as $300.
