If you are hearing air from the valve cover, you are leaking past the piston rings. Do another test with the car warm and see if it is still leaking there. Also, I would take the timing gear cover off and rotate the engine back and forth a bit, see if the amount of air changes (you can also try to do it with the starter with a few bumps, just disconnect the crankshaft speed sensor to disable your injectors and fuel).

I think you should do a compression check and a proper leakdown test to be sure.

That bov should have came with a block off plate to run fully recirculated. Try that first, and that should help or resolve the problem with idle, etc. If you don't have the plate, replace it with a IX DV.

Dirt, fantastic idea on calling Buschur. I bet the problem gets solved over the phone.

What you need to do:

update:

thank you all.

changed the bov to 100% recirc and it doesn't do it anymore that I can see.

didn't know it was an issue, the vendor said it wouldn't be when I got it at the time...oh well.

thanks again to the community.

Good to hear you found the issue. I'm sure you feel much better that it wasn't a serious problem.

Oh, we moved to SC from Newington, CT...3 years up there with bad snow did me in - but I do miss the Berlin Turnpike

That's a pretty DA thing to say, considering what I posted right before you solved the problem.. Keep excluding yourself please if all you can do is suggest calling buschur or ams for a bov question. They don't need your noob questions.

Yeah so anyways the issue over the getting around 1100-1300 rpm is gone. It seems to just not be getting enough recirc air.

However another issue thats been there awhile that feels the same is still there, and I just thought they were linked so I didnt bring it up in my earlier post.. I may have to make a new post.

Was wondering if anyone else has this problem or if its just something with the car:

When you're driving around say stop sign to stop sign or even on a regular road.

When getting on the gas - hard or soft say going to say 2000 - 3000 or even 2000 to 5000 rpm and letting off the gas at any point to coast or whatever - does your car hop a little? it almost like jumps forward a tiny little bit and then pulls back, but its very slight. it only happens when you get off the gas..

Having a hard time explaining it, does anyone know what I mean or can point me in a direction ? Maybe everyones car does that?
