Clutch Question

When I floor my car in 3rd gear from 3000 rpm the rpms start to go up then jump over 4000 then drop back down to 4000. Does that mean my stock clutch is starting to go out, if so what recommendations on clutches?

If that isnt the case anyone know what the problem could be?

Yes, the clutch is slipping - classic symptom. To verify, go put the car in 5th at 2500rpm and floor it. If the rpms jump up a bunch without the car accelerating, and then they drop back down when the clutch catches and accelerates again, then it's for sure slipping. Don't do it much, or it will burn out in a hurry.

Exedy Twin HD Cerametallic.

About 2500 rpms, like he said. If your car does it in 3rd, I'm sure it does it in 5th.

Would an Exedy Stage 1 Clutch last me a decent amount of time? The twin disk is up there on price and my 4th gear is grinding so if i put that type of clutch in there could it mess anything up?

Amount of time is not dependent on the clutch itself, but rather how you drive.

I am not sure what you mean when asking if a twin will mess anything up. It's one of the most common and best clutches you can get on an Evo, and it's worth the extra cost.

How many miles are on your car. Taranny and clutch problems already and you don't have that many mods. If you want your transmission to last, get the Exedy Twin. $2000 installed for that vs. 2 $500 clutches and 2 $500 installs with half the headache. You can get the standard PP not the HD as well. Plus Exedy comes with a flywheel.

Why would it cause more grinding? Clutches don't randomly cause grinding unless they are on their way out. It should not be 1650 at all. It should be $1350-1400 for the Exedy Twin HD Cerametallic, and that includes the Exedy chromoly flywheel.

Do _NOT_ get the SD version. That was not a good suggestion by Jordan.

I dont know I'm obviously an amature thats why im asking.

Could changing the transmission fluids help out my grinding issue or my Synchro just has to be replaced?
