.... Yeah, his car was acting very strange when we first tried to tune it with the stock bcs. I've done plenty of bcds tuning on my own and several customer cars, and his was just acting wack. We were short on time so Noize decided to slap in a manual.

I've had great results with the GM solenoid and ecu control, still need to do a little fine tuning but it responds way better than the stock solenoid.

We are going to get him on the gm next time he comes down and get it dialed in to suit his boost preferences.

I'm using the stock 03 turbo with stock 9.8 hotside, and a plain jane hallman MBC. I hit 24 psi at 3000 psi and it holds all the way until redline.

Got an actual log and not eyeballing the (usually inaccurate) gauge?

My gauge isn't inaccurate. I've tested it with two different hand pumps and its dead on. To my knowledge there isn't any way to log boost without the JDM map sensor (which I don't have)?

the gm solenoid is nice and you can pretty much make the boost flat or taper how you want but it is frustrating to tune (I'm still working on mine )

Do you guys have any hard evidence to back this up? I really want to see logged boost curves and before/after dyno comparison on this one, as everyone and their mom swears that these things normally don't make much difference...but I haven't seen any specific info on the ones w/ the red spring.

Also, he has quoted dyno gains of like 20-30 top-end whp over a traditional mbc....

This is what I will do one day when I can afford that EBC...
I'm using the HKS EVC6 as recommended by TURBODAWG. I was holding 22psi on the stock turbo to 8000rpms with the stock airbox. After changing to an open filter, I was able to hold 24psi.

As Razorlab mentioned ECU boost control is fantastic. I have set up my car with a #65 pill and got great results. The car can hold boost @ 20-21 all the way to redline or I can taper the boost to 19 by redline.

This table show boost holding to 20-21 by redline

And this table tapers the boost to 19 psi by redline

Each one of these tables is a compilation of 3-4 logs. You can set-up your boost anyway you wish with ECU boost control. You can taper it by redline or hold it @ 21 all the way to redline. I have settled on the taper since the stock turbo will be outside its effeciency range and no power to be had.

With a simple MBC and my current mods my car holds 20psi at redline no problem. I'm interested in some hard data on holding 23-24psi at 7k rpms.

Do you have logged data showing 20 psi @ redline? Or are you simply relying on the boost gauge?
