The cams we have used are the S1s and Cosworth not HKS IX. Ryan misread that title. FYI.

I wouldn’t scrap a set of Cosworth cams for a set of HKS.... I have checked plenty of HKS cams and have always found it amazing that they have the following they do. HKS's designs are lagging behind present competition or at least everyone I’ve looked at. And I have a feeling if some one does a test comparing them to the stock cams it will show. The evo 9 stock cams are defiantly the best mitsu has offered out of all the 4G63T cams, they are defiantly tricky to make better. I’ll bet the new HKS 9 cams don't show much if any improvement over stock..... Come on ams, TopSpeed or cbrd lets see an evo 9 cam test! I'm down for sending a set up for a comparison.

Seriously, this needs to be done. Take 1 car with full bolt ons thats tuned... dyno it... then put in the Cossies, dyno... take them out, put it the HKS... dyno... take out.. GSC.. dyno! DONE! Thats a lot of work though

If the New HKS cams does work out for the IX..Is it wise to say that 272/280 combo will work better?

Hi Greg

What would you rate the duration of the Stock Evo 9 intake & exhaust cams to be, in terms of advertised dur compared to the say VIII's GSC 264/272..etc as ref...

Just curious...

I'm still interested in the HKS IX cams. Not enough to buy a set until I tune them on a car, but more than anything else out there.

I agree with the statement that the stock IX cams are the best Mitsu ones yet. I don't want to sacrifice the stock hollow cams for some whack 3whp gain.

Every IX that I've seen cammed has been disappointing to say the least.

Testing IX cams would be awesome......Especially from an unbiased, trustworthy person that was in it to show what cams are better for the benefit of the evo community.

Not a I will make these cams seem better kind of test because i sell them, not that anyone does that....im just stating what theoretically could go on and could be why there is such a big question mark when someone brings up the topic of IX cams

I may have a car for the test. I will try to arrange something soon. Give me a few days to work something out.
