Replacing the Gasket between J-Pipe and Turbo

I am going to be replacing the gasket between the J-Pipe and Turbo due to a leak, I just wanted to know whether their is a proper way to place the gasket, one side up or down? Any advice would be great.

Check the J pipe flange to make sure it's flat. I have seen many that have not been.
