Syncos? From 3rd to 5th

i own a 03 evo with about 23,000 miles on it and just recently got a cluch installed around 22000 miles. ive never drove the car before the new clutch was put in and jus learned how to drive stick on my sisters honda a week before i bought the evo. theres a short ramp that leads to the highway where i would accel on 3rd gear untill i hit about 5000 rpms before i shift straight into 5th while skippind second which would land me on 60 to 70 mph. when i shift to 5th i get a resistance from the stick and a grinding noise along with it. so i wait a while on neutral before i try it again in which i no longer feel any resistance and the shift feels smoth again. from what ive read here. This problum is caused by the syncros but everyone who had this problum expirenced it shifting from 4th to 5th not 3rd to 5th. im jus wondering is it really my syncros or am i not supposed to skip gears or can it be something else?

try changing the gearbox fluid with pennzoil synchromesh. Skipping gears won't harm anything as long as it's upshifting( make sure you are traveling fast enough for the gear)
