Thumbs up BOV adapters for EVO8s

Hi guys.

I'm not sure if any other company makes Evo 8 specific flanges, but I couldn't find any. They always came with the BOV kit. I already had a Greddy BOV from my Audi that I wanted to use on the EVO and found this website that sold just the adapters. Just wanted to pass along the info.

Thumbs down Doh

nonhero,

The guys (ATP) are in Fremont, CA so I just went there to pick up the BOV flange. I treid to install the Greddy Type-S but the flange's tube is a bit smaller than the stock!

I returned it so I'm now looking for another place to get it. Found this place: http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/Show...ategoryCd=MOUN

Also, do you know if the Greddy's Weld-on flange (part number 11900450) would work?? The diameter of the tube looks bigger tho...

Just curious. Why would you want to put an aftermarket BOV in the Evo?

Replace it with a 1G DSM compressor bypass valve, then. I wouldn't put a BOV on this car, no way.

you'll still need a flange to make the 1G BOV fit.... if you can find a 1G bov for cheap, thats a good idea, but even the 1G BOV will leak at around 19-20psi unless you crush them. Road Race sells an uncrushed 1G bov for $99, not that much cheaper IMHO......

Part support and price would be a lot easier and cheaper for a 1G Compressor Bypass Valve than an aftermarket BOV.

http://www.diamondstarmotorsport.com/intakeparts.shtml

They are on there for $86 and you could probably talk Nate into hooking you up with the flange for pretty cheap. He is a good guy. Lots of people ditch their 1G DSM stock pipes at his shop and get the Dejon intake pipes, so I am pretty sure he has a few flanges laying around. Another bonus of running a CBV over a BOV is that you don't have any issues with idle like you do with a BOV. These cars are meant to run CBV's unless you scrap the MAS and go with some other form of air metering.

You can also fund 1G DSM CBV's on www.dsmtrader.com for about $50 uncrushed.

Does it dump to atmosphere or does it replumb into your intake track after the MAS?

Recirc and drop in replacement. Believed by may to be the best valve for the Evo. Simple design that works. You know the saying KISS.

Hell yeah then. I wouldn't consider it if you were trying to vent to atmosphere. I don't see the point in doing that. But if it recirculates, then it is a good deal. I'll have to look into that Forge valve then. As long as it doesn't adjust like the GReedy Type S. I hate those. I had so many problems trying to set them up. They always seemed to either stay too tight or they would open way too early if you were to lift off the throttle a little bit. You have to find the sweet spot.......which is kinda like finding Jesus, I think.

If you want to adjust the Forge you just change the spring. Only necessary if you put it on and it is not smooth on release. Or if you want to up the boost.
They are starting to sell them with the spring kits so if you need or want to change springs you already have them. Plus they warranty them for life, I am pretty sure.

Nice. Now, when you say the stock valve leaks under high boost, how high are you talking? I couldn't see myself running over 20..........yet.
