I thought OEM rod/main bolts do fine to 500bhp. I'm still unsure about using them on stock parts when tight OEM tolerances can be easily be off from a bolt with different characteristics. Quite possibly I'm wrong, but I have yet to see, and would welcome, proof otherwise.

oh well... so i'm still thinking about getting forged internals... it's just that as usual, there are pretty good deals here in Manila for stock parts.

this got me thinking though, the 50 trim ain't that big a turbo anyway, so i can't push it too much too. but since i'll be dynoflashing the car, i might get a bit disappointed when i realize that i could've gotten a little more power if i did opt for the forged pistons and rods. i'm not so sure yet, but all i want is reliability and my goal is no more than 400whp. HELP!!!

and i am quite sure that the lost compression problem was the source of the problem... i remember i've had that problem with the spark plug even before i got the 50trim in it. so? what dya guys think? with the goal i've set, go forged or not?

i say u go forged, for the main reason u stated earlier , "i might get a bit disappointed when i realize that i could've gotten a little more power"... this way if you are dissapointed u can run a lil meth or get a race gas map or a torco map.. i say pay a lil extra since your rebuilding anyway

evil,

i don't think i'll ever run race gas/meth anyway... i can't find them here and if i did, it will be hard to maintain it. i'll just be running on boost alone, say around 23-24 psi max...

with just a 50trim, will the stock hold up?
