Can you pin point excactly where you think the noise is coming from?
From the soundclip, it's pretty loud enough to figure where it is.
Trans side, Engine side, top or bottom, middle or the car, rear?

Does the noise change when the clutch is depressed?
Any vibration you feel from the noise?

it's really hard to pinpoint exactly where the sounds coming from.. when the car is parked i can hear it coming from under the engine with the hood popped open. i also hear it alot from inside the fronts wheels both left and right side. i can still hear the noise when the the clutch is engaged and in gear at around 3000 rpm.. i MIGHT feel a slight vibration, but it could also be mental if anything it is very minimal and it could just be the way the car drives..

the flywheel occured to me as a possibility, but it that were the case, would i really still hear the noise with the clutch engaged in gear?

you must have an exhaust leak check very carefully your exhaust.
do you have an aftermarket exhaust manifold or still on stock? and if stock have you pulled it out?

it sounds like one i know, but it can't be.. my exhaust manifold is stock.. we did it take it off to install my evo 9 turbo.. but my car made this sound before i installed the evo 9 turbo, 02 housing and brand new ams exhaust.. checked everything very carefully to make sure it was tight..

i dont think it sounds like one..quick way to check..grab a buddy and roll up a towel and put it at press it into the exhaust tip...for like 5 sec at a time...check all flanges for forced air sound..ull hear the leak in a very quick high pitch pattern

as for the flywheel yes it would still be fine for the clutch...flywheel just seems to be loose..if you dont mind me asking..was it a respectable shop that worked on it?

hey! we tried holding the exhaust in place with a chrobar and towel, didn't really change anything.. will try your towel idea tho

yeah it was a decently reputatble shop.. i trust them for the most part.. my friends have got clutch jobs done there all the time, of course there cars arent as hard to do.. fwd, rwd..

just throwing out a couple of ideas. have you checked all of your motormounts (torqued down and in good shape), especially the front lower mount? if you are still running the raingaurd in the hood vent make sure its secure too. if i think of something else for you to check ill let you know.

edit: have you checked the heatshield above the catalytic converter? if you are running a test pipe/high flow cat with the anti fouler mod, the anti fouler isnt rubbing the undercarriage is it?

once again just wanted to thank everyone again for all their input as you guys have been great..

i'm going to have to pull out the 02 housing tomorrow and exhaust manifold tom as i'm porting them.. going to check the heatshield.. like i said the two lower tie bars on the car are still off so it can't be them.. will check about the exhaust..

also i just had a lightbulb go off in my head... just to let everyone know.. i have act hdss clutch with a fidanza lightweight fly wheel for almost a year and a half now.. car has never made this noise at all... i USED to have a hks carbon TI, but i was forced to revert back to stock for alittle bit.. the sound started ever since i got my car back.. in attempt to fix it as you all have read.. i installed a brand new AMS turboback... sound is still there... i keep wondering wth could the shop have done to make this noise from doing a simple exhaust swap... hmm......
