fp 3065 / ets 58trim

as i am led to believe both these turbo's are around the same size, im looking for some more info of people running either?

another question i have is how well will my engine cope with either of these turbo's if i have my rods changed to eagle rods and machined with stock pistons? looking at running around 25-30psi on super unleaded pump fuel (UK-shell vpower)

any help or advice would be great as quite a few seem to think the stock pistons will be fine given the weakest link - the rods have been changed

much appriciated

thanks

As of right now I don't believe anyone has a 58 trim turbo kit, so you may only find people who have the 3065 posting in here

100s of threads on broke stock pistons. Virtually none on broke rods. And 99% of the time you see a broke rod thread it is because the piston broke first. A chunk of piston wedged in the quench zone will take out any rod. The stock pistons are super strong and long wearing. but they are brittle when detonation is present.

Making a good tune the most important factor ^
Isn't that almost always the case?

I remember seeing a thread on the 3065 not too long ago. He was making mid 400's on pump & meth inj at about 21psi.

Spooling at 4000.

If your super unleaded is the equiv to our 93, I don't see you getting past severe knock at the kind of boost. The 3065 will make it. I have one. (on a DSM) I'm not as familiar with Evo timing maps, etc... but I will tell you a coated piston will make a world of difference if you really wanna run that kind of boost on pump gas. I run Mahle pistons in my stuff and it drastically cut my knock to nothing from my last motor. Even with more boost and keeping all my stock timing. I dont run it as lean as I did before.

But I think there's multiple factors that will effect what you're going to be able to run on pump. Having a 30 psi goal without much considering the rest doesn't make alot of sense to me.

The 3065 will make a **** storm of power below 30psi. And can be run on pump gas. Its all in the tune. However, if I was in there? I'd yank the pistons too, and either get them ceramic coated, or replace. However, having a floating wrist pin is too much a benefit for me to pass up. I'd pull them too.

i think our sul is around 93 oct, race gas is like $150 for 25 litres here, way too much so pump is my only option, i know lots of other run over 2 bar on our pump so i dont think its an issue

the reason i wanna keep away from doing pistons is that the rods can be done in situe, i know so can the pistons but im scared of leakdown issues with the new pistons, at least just changing the rods mean everything else is oem fit etc.

Me and DUBY will both have the 58 trim kits on our cars soon, just waiting for ETS to get the kits together and get them out. Both of us will be tunning on 93/meth. When we are all finished(hope soon) we will post results.

You mean Bernardo's thread review on the BR3065 kit on his IX? If so, he made 473whp on pump+meth, however it was at 23-25psi and he said it STARTED spooling at 4000rpm. He did not get full boost til close to 5000rpm.

So is ETS's 58trim the same as a 3065? If not what is?

If you are planning on running 30psi, I would not hold back, go with 61mm. I'm only running 26psi right now on pump and absolutely love it. Lag is overrated.

I'm hitting full boost by 4,800rpm without any lean spool mapping. The kit kicks *ss.
