Clutch options....need recommendations
Clutch options....need recommendations
I just installed a HKS GD max twin plate clutch in my Evo9. The pedal is lighter then stock and its quite easy to drive. The only problem I have with it is the noise when the clutch is disengaged. The noise that I hear every time I shift is really bothering me. I'm thinking if I should learn to live with the noise, or to get a single plate clutch.
I heard that the upgraded single plate clutches have a heavier pedal feel and is more of an on and off engagement.
Any recommendations on what I should do or get? I didn't know that there would be a noise coming from this twin plate clutch. If I would have known about this then I would have never got it in the first place.
I have spoken to a few people who have this same clutch to find out if it really was this noisy when you disengage the clutch. They all said yes and they said that they are now used to the noise and it doesn't bother them. It would be alright if the noise wasn't like a grinding of metal shaking noise, but it bothers me a little every time I shift.
What should I do? If replacing it, what you would recommend? I want something that can handle more then stock.

It may get lighter over time, but it's definitely common.
A single plate isn't going to give you much over stock, IMHO it's not worth the time.
It's been said time and time again, Exedy Twin Plate is the most popular street driven, high power clutch
