Clutch/tranny making odd sound!
Well when I bought the 2005 evo 8 it had 21k miles on it and a older lady had it before me! and when i got the car i found out the clutch was slipping a month later so i bought a exedy stage 1 clutch and had act motorsports install it in NJ and ever since they installed it it makes a odd grinding sound almost, when im going down hill and i let go of the gas when its still in gear. And when the car is parked and i let it sit at 800 rpm's and then i tap the gas it makes a short grinding noise only when the clutch is engaged and not in gear. It almost sounds like a knock but its something to do with the tranny or clutch any ideas?( it only last liek 100rpm's when i get to 900rpms it stops Or is this normal with a exedy clutch? The tranny and clutch were rebuilt at the same time there are about 20k miles on the new tranny and clutch. I have never dropped the clutch or put the car into the wrong gear. Im just trying to get a idea if i should spend the money and let them take the tranny and clutch apart
you might want to get used to it haha... my 03 and every other evo i have ridden in w/ an aftermarket clutch has the grinding noise when you let off the accelorator.
i have put 10k on my evo since i bought it and have had no problems and actually have gotten used to the sound
i wouldnt worry if i were you haha
btw i am using the stage 2 act clutch and stock flywheel..
hope this helps

yea i have the stock flywheel to they put a new clutch and used flywheel in since the 1st one turned blue from slipping
but now if i shift and bring the clutch out a little to fast and it grabs it makes a THUMP sound I just got to get use to a awd from a rwd bmw and a fwd eclipse so lets hope for the best! Like from what i have found its not good to pop the clutch out liek going from 1st to 2nd at high rpm but to bring it up fast and smooth then from a rwd or fwd you can drop the clutch and cherp gears
