Cool Lessons learned along the way

So 7 months ago I installed several parts on my car...
Heres what ive learned since then....
1. Every time something goes wrong.... its better to not tell the wife
2. Megan does not make a good manifold.. i dont care what anyone else says. That thing is garbage. It cracked on the 1-4 collector almost all the way around and i had mine heat wrapped. Bad welds are just that... bad welds.
3. Just because the shop owner runs it on "his" car... doesnt make it good (see #2)
4. Just because the shop owner "tunes" your car... its doesnt make it good.
5. Just because you spent alot of money doesnt mean your gonna get good service.
6. A racoon can in fact kill a GReddy FMIC... even with the stock grill in place.
7. Did we touch on the Megan mani sucks thing..oh yes...never mind
8. You should always research a shop just like you would research a part.. (I did neither)
9. Guys that are 6'6'' (like me) have big hands. Whenever I work on my evo... my hands look like I stuck them in a meat grinder. Anyone else? or just me?
10. Having a GT35R kit doesnt make you fast (see PUREPLAYA)
11. The whole "I was testing out a new part" excuse never gets you out of a ticket.
12. Drinking and wrenching often end in disaster or not ending at all...
13. Sears really will exchange that broken craftsman tool.. no questions asked.
14. If you can still move your fingers after the tool breaks with all your weight behind it... sending your white knuckled fist into the side of a block... it aint boken (see#13)
15. The search button on this thing rarely finds what it is in fact what your looking for.
16. Last and not least...if you do infact use a after market mani / o2 housing(hopefully not a MeGan) USE THE OEM GASKETS.
Time to add to the list..
17. Never let the parts bin overflow into the kitchen, living room or bedroom. She
wont appreciate looking at your carbon fiber hood first thing in the morning... or
the tranny during breakfast.
19. Always clean up the oil before she sees it.
20. Dont be afraid to hit something/throw something/cuss at something while
working on your car. Just never at your significant other.
21. My HKS SSQ valve kicks a$$... I dont know what everyone elses problem is.
22. 4WS really can tune your evo. But no.... he cant dance... at all.... not never....
23. Srt-4 owners really are a jaded group of enthusiast. Im sorry my car has AWD. And no I dont go from a roll.

thanks for reading

The gaskets that usually get send with the product is that perforated aluminzed garbage. It doesnt last very long and doesnt seal well... the oem gaskets work alot better... i speak from experience. The megan mani gasket failed. thats why i took it off in the first place... then i decided i was going to freshen up the mani with new heat wrap. thats when i found the crack....

Amen to that! I told mine I was buying the Evo for carrying the child - which is true - but I am having a hard time justifying going faster.

5. Just because you spent alot of money doesnt mean your gonna get good service.
Sadly, this is more and more true. :\

8. You should always research a shop just like you would research a part.. (I did neither)
Learned this one myself.

9. Guys that are 6'6'' (like me) have big hands. Whenever I work on my evo... my hands look like I stuck them in a meat grinder. Anyone else? or just me?
I've got rather small hands for my size, and they still get garfed up. Worse, is that the gloves don't stop most of the extra-shop metal.

11. The whole "I was testing out a new part" excuse never gets you out of a ticket.
Thankfully, there's enough backroads here I don't have to worry too much about the 5-O

12. Drinking and wrenching often end in disaster or not ending at all...
It might get you laid though.

13. Sears really will exchange that broken craftsman tool.. no questions asked.
Some of them try to ask how it was broken - they try to get out of it from time to time around here. Granted, that happens more often when you're not using the tool right.

14. If you can still move your fingers after the tool breaks with all your weight behind it... sending your white knuckled fist into the side of a block... it aint boken (see#13)
Compound fracture?

15. The search button on this thing rarely finds what it is in fact what your looking for.
Yup. Clogged with too much argumentation and irrelevant ****.

And I just learned a lesson - multiple quotes like that gives you a really long post.

I'm 6'0 and I can attest to the big hands in the engine bay! Yeah, man, I feel your pain.

Funny thread.

I can't agree with #15. Just about the only time I havent found what I was looking for in the search button was if the term was less than 3 characters.
