What other turbo can i bolt on?

Currently have a Shearer 35r kit on the evo.

Just wondering if any other size turbo will be a direct bolt-on w/o running into clearance problems.

I know i should just ask the guys at Shearer but thought i'd try here first as to not bother them too much.

40r?

50 trim

The motor is being re-built as we speak but on the stocker it put down 476 on a dynodynamics dyno i believe and ran a 10.85 @ 125 w/ the previous owner missing a gear right before the finish line.

Just wondering if i should run the 35r to the max before going bigger as the kit only has 500 miles on it so i assume i could sell it and buy another kit........but was just wondering

Here's a vid of the car before he sold it to me (previous owner went by "racers") on this forum.

how fast are you looking to go? Are you still running the stock TC and trans? The 35R is proven to go 9's in the 1/4 mile and make over 600 hp. You are only @ 476, i think w/ some race gas and a new tune youll be more than happy w/ the 35r. They really comealive w/ race gas and high boost. And if you do drive the car on the street, anything over a 35R sucks to drive and tune for DD or any street driving i think.

just my .02

^+2 I think you should keep the 35R anything higher that will not be that fun on the street.

The 67/P-Trim would be the obvious next step up. There are other options but you need to choose wisely.

Just for clarification.. Are you guys saying that you could simply bolt on a 50Trim Turbo to the stock exhaust manifold.. Can someone clarify.

If you want more information, just call Shearer. He's a great source of information, and extremely helpful in getting you the parts you choose. The 67/P-Trim he mentioned is what AMS, BR, and others have termed the "37R" on this board and in their ads. It is good for another 50-60 HP on the top end, but you wait a little longer for it to spool up.

If you want more HP with what you've already got, put in some C16 and have Scot Grey tune that AEM up for it. You can reach him through RRE

You can bolt on any T3, but the fit of the other parts depends on the size and footprint of the 35R housings. In other words, if the 50 trim is smaller, the other piping that bolts to it will need adjustment.

The 37R/ 67 turbo referenced above is the same size and footprint as the 35R, so it would bolt in exactly in its place.

Got it....thanks for the input especially Shearer.

I just don't want to bother them w/ annoying simple ?'s i'd rather bug all the members here first lol.

I have done some research and realize that the pt 76 (gt37r) is not a ball bearing turbo and spool may be a bit longer for 30-40 gain up top.

Just would like to get an idea of how much and how involved it would be to totally change up the turbo selection.

Looks like an upgrade will wait until next year i'm just itchin to get to the drag strip it's been a few months.

The 37R IS a Double Ball Bearing turbo, just like the 35R. No delay in spool because of the CHRA, just the size and weight of the different turbine and compressor wheels.

The 67 runs about $1300. You'd be able to sell your 35R and recoup some of that outlay.

Thank you for clearing that up for me.......i must have gotten some wrong info

Is there any comparisons in ET's going from a 35r to the "37r"

Maybe i should search for that.......doesn't make sense to knock off a tenth or two as i might as well switch to an all out drag 42r at that point.
