Ya know, I hate the marketing schmucks that sit around and make up the "stages" of car modification. Its just hype and smoke and mirrors.

Build your car the way you want, and take anyone trying to sell a "staged" kit with a serious grain of salt.

Perhaps in some cases. However, don't you think that a shop that has an in-house chassis dyno and the means to install and test just about anything on a car is quite qualified to put together a group of synergistic upgrades? A set of upgrades which outperform another set of relatively untested upgrades which were randomly installed based upon forum talk.

Heh... I think that anyone who can work the word "synergy" in any form into a sentence has at least a modicum of sales and marketing in their blood.

Or maybe a reading level above that of a 10th grader.

Stages of upgrades for shops are not a bad idea at all for marketing. Peeps that just want to make the car faster in a hurry are perfect for these sales. Personally I see stages for the weak minded. I am taking very precious time with my upgrades. I spent 30k on this biach so Im going to make sure the upgrades hold up enough to support the beast of the name they are attached to (evo). I havent been in the market for more than two years (import market 1st was a Eclipse GST, now evo), but I want the car as original as I can make it to my own tastes. Vishnu, Works, Buscher, AMS are all respectable, but I dont want a package that is shared by many, many other peeps. But I will take a little from all of you.

...must free the mind, become one with evo......

I have decided to go with Shiv for one simple reason. Reliability! With plug and play Exedes in the near future and his dyno tuning abilities he can safely give my EVO more power. I just don't want a fast car that detonates when i go WOT. Might as well just go buy an STI if i want that.I will unplug it when i take it to me Stealorship(stealth ability)is also an important factor.Stealorship cool with bolt-ons but EMS or FMS(AFC-II) good luck. Also with the ability to use different maps for 91-100 unleaded I will be able to control the amount of performance i desire. I mix 100 and 91 on a Regular basis. So Cal Evo owners your car runs better on approx 95 unleaded then on 91. When running it hard you can feel the difference. I get my 100 at 76 in Pomona off Phillips Ranch road.

Oh but the painful process of waiting for the testing to be completed!!!

When will we see the Stage 1, or downloadable maps with boost control and dash toggle between two maps.

Shiv - I'm not a kid anymore. My urgency is directly proportional to my mortality.

Cheers

The new features, with the exception of boost control, are ready right now. But we will need to upgrade the firmware in the XEDE as well as stick in another wire (for map switching) in the XEDE connector. Two switch map banks, all one has to do is bring it to ground with a simple switch. I mounted my switch in the ash tray and use it to toggle

A bunch of maps are already downloadable off the website, FWIW.

We're running boost control in a few cars up in Portland but a boost control solenoid related CEL was triggered. During the last week we discovered that the factory ECU needs to sense solenoid activity (by monitoring current change feedback) in order for its diagnostics to remain happy. In other words, it wasn't happy with a simple dead end or even a well-match resistor.

Through lots of testing, we found that adding a little $5 relay (which behaves like a solenoid) solved the problem and kept the ECU happy and CEL-free. We're in the process of making up a more elegant pseudo-solenoid out of capacitors/resistors/etc,. which will be integrated into the harness wire. This way you won't hear the relay clicking when you go under boost.

If you want to upgrade you're XEDE now for map switching, just call us and arrange a time to send it in for updating. But if you want CEL-free boost control, you'll have to wait a couple of weeks for the add on electronics which you (or us) will have to wire into your XEDE harness.

Best Regards,
shiv

lol

FYI~ The Xede boost control is working great. I get 1.5bar in the midrange, tapering down to 1.35-1.4 by redline.

Shiv, any chance of getting the Stage 0.5 + boost control in a 94 octane map?
