You need to explain it better. What does "surge back and forth" mean? Is it sputtering? Is it cutting out?

If you're running 26psi, I assume you are on alky/meth or race gas daily.

What mods do you have? How are you controlling boost?

how are we supposed to know unless you tell us. 18psi on a evo 9 is actually less than stock boost levels. how does your car run when at 20-21 psi? what octane gas do you run? are you tuned?

do you mean,,, that when you step on it wot,,,, for example you spike 25 psi and then it levels back down to lets say 20-21,,, if this the case that normal ... oh and by the way that high boost you will only see in 4th and 5th because engine higher loads,,,, on the lower gears 1,2,3 you will se more like a 14-15-16 psi

on the other hand.... if you mean that when you go WOT youre boosts is all over the place ,,,,, like sporatic,,,, in other words not holding a consistent number,,, thats not good,,,,,
now do you feel any loss in power while this happens,,, if not check youre boost gauge.
