hey guys just realized something.. from what i can see the megan 02 housing is universal for the evo 8 and 9 correct? wouldn't the gaskets or designs need to be different as well due to 9.8 hotside compared to the 10.5?

...and MAKE SURE TO USE AN OE GASKET anywhere north of the downpipe!!!

 

The 9.8 and 10.5 hotsides for the 16G IX and VIII turbos have identical gasket footprints on both the turbine housing inlet to exhaust manifold interface, and the turbine housing outlet to O2 housing interface.

Also, internally, the turbine wheels are identical as well. The main difference is the respective Area-to-Radius ratio(A/R) of the turbine housings. Externally, the 10.5 hsg. is noticeably larger than the 9.8, eventhough all mounting and gasket mating interfaces are held constant.

As a practical matter, you can swap a 9.8 HS onto a IX turbo with no problem and it'll line up perfectly with the stock O2 housing. So, overall compatibility should exist between the various aftermarket O2's and both the 9.8 and 10.5, 16G hotsides.

 

use the oem metal gasket gaskets for the manifold and the 02 housing as for ^hes right turbine wheels are identical.
