Question What performance mods can be done without voiding warrany?

Just curious, but I would like to boost the performance a little bit, but I'm worried about voiding the warranty. Does adding a new intake and exhaust void warranty? Does adding a drop in K&N panel filter give our cars any performance gain?

Thanks

they can only void things that are related to your mod... IE.... void the electrical system with an aftermarket alarm, void suspention issues if you lowered the car etc....

I dunno if they wil honor anything engine related if they we asses w/ your intake and exaust, but easy to switch back to stock

when i called my dealer they said that a cold air intake was ok, but cat back exhaust not ok. then i called a number off mitsu web site they said both ok. (1888648782002) ya i realize thats an extra digit but its the number. they said no nitrous and no turbo. but like shahul said. bolts ons come off easy.

That really makes no sense to me that a catback exhaust would be so different from an intake in terms of what they say voids a warranty, especially when cat back could basically mean having midas replaced rusty pipes with new ones.

Regardless, there is no one thing you can do to void your warranty. They will fix things that are their fault and they will not fix things that are your fault. If you install a powerful stereo and blow the factory speakers, they aren't responsible. If you install a cold air intake and suck in lots of water, they aren't responsible. If you install a cold air intake and your sunroof stops working, they'll fix it. Get it?

I originally bought the extended warranty, but once I saw how inexpensive aftermarket (and higher-quality) parts were, I cancelled it and started modifying my Evo. Even if something major goes like the turbo, I will just upgrade to an HKS GT3037 or something.

PS - if the dealer refuses to honor the warranty, they have to demonstrate why the modification caused the problem. With bolt-ons like a downpipe and exhaust, that won't happen...
