Best turbo without Meth/Alky?

Hey, I'm looking to upgrade my turbo. I've been looking at the gt3076 but noticed almost everyone I read about is running meth with it. would it not be worth it to use a 3076 without upping the boost?

I don't really want to use meth/water/alky so I was wondering what would a good turbo be if I'm not going to be using detonation supression.

Thanks!

the 50 trim has been shown to outperform the 3076 at street boost levels, on pump gas, in the 20-23# range. If you up the boost (either by using race gas or meth), the 3076 has the advantage.

so anything above a 50 trim isn't worth it without using meth and upping the boost?

so I guess its between an evogreen and a 50trim which has been covored quite a bit

Same dilema as myself.

I'll probably go with the 3076 to have easy future upgradeablility (is that a word?) without changing too much.

About the same as a 50 trim and pump.

It's no slouch on pump either. Several have made right around 400whp on pump which is right around what a 50 trim will do with much more enjoyable torque and powerband.

agreed!!! 50 trim does outperform the 3076 on pump gas boost levels

3076 with pump and a nice conserative tune will be in the range of 390-420whp.

FP Green/20GLT would be a great pump gas turbo. I would put any amount of money a 400whp Green would romp on a 50trim/3076 on pump putting down 420whp or so. It has much better spool, better transient response and more torque. Those will overcome the small upper RPM disadvantage. It will also be more fun to drive.

I am not necessarily disagreeing, but has someone posted dyno numbers showing that swapping from the 3076 to a 50 trim increased power? I would think the turbine and turbine housing would have the largest impact here, and a GT30R turbine wheel with a poorly matched turbine housing may be to blame for any VE drop in this low 20PSI range.
