low rpm dip/stall #2 - help please

Hi

I posted this in an earlier thread and it died so I am remaking another one;

It seems ever since i put my few mods on my car, when i run my car ill come to a stop and the rpms drop almost to the point that its gonna stall on me. It will be what feels like a surge of air at the last around 1200 rpm. (it never stalls)

On cold starts driving around in 1st and 2nd seem to hesitate a little and i can sometimes hear a whirring sound like air is leaking somewhere..

I ran a Boost leak test and I have air coming from what sounds like is INSIDE the valve cover, taking off the oil cap sure enough you hear air coming out..

I have HKS 272 cams so I thought maybe it was a valve issue...

Thinking it was a valve issue I bought a compression tester today, my results are as follows:

Looking @ the car with hood opened Cyl Lineup ---> ( 1 ) ( 2 ) ( 3 ) ( 4 )

Cyl 1: 168psi pass 1 170 pass 2
Cyl 2: 170psi pass 1 170 pass 2
Cyl 3: 173psi pass 1 170 pass 2
Cyl 4: 170psi pass 1 170 pass 2

If I press the clutch in at a stop it seems to help and it won't dip in RPM or try to stall, but i have only 30k miles on the car and i dont run my car hard so im kinda

Has anyone else had a similar problem that they could offer me some tips on? i dont want to waste my time taking it to the dealer because theyll just tell me that the car has mods on it so they can't touch it.

This is on an 03 evo.

Any help or comments are much appreciated, I'll check back from work tmrw.

Thx.

/bump

I uploaded some photos:

I took off the valve cover and ran another boost test - looking closer I can DEFINETELY hear air moving through the area circled in Red, through one of the vent holes in the head - NOT the valves or rods..

Anyone know what kind of gaskets could be down there that could be seeping air through?

low rpm dip/stall usually are from a vaccum leak, bov, aftermarket intake. with that said i would install the stock dv, intake, and inspect your vaccum lines (especially the ones that are connected to your maf pipe).

Yea and I did, resetting the ECU and tested with same results, there is definetely some sort of leak happening inside the block/head and I can't tell what it is,

Whatever it is, is making a sound of which is a pinhole sized air gap seeping through, it sounds like a tea kettle going off under the head.

the air leak you hear is the air going by the rings......

i would say your stall problem has to do with how the tune / idle is set-up...

If the leak was going by the rings wouldn't it have shown in the compression test?
