MT90 or 6speed tranny fluid????

Hey guys i've been researching tranny fluids for my RS 5speed. it has around 6500 miles on it and i want to change the fluids on it once i return home from my deployment. i just ordered the Diaqueen LSD gear oil from mitsubishiparts.net for the TC and Rear Diff. now i'm wondering which tranny fluid to get. so far i'm considering Redline MT90 or the Diaqueen MZ313376 6speed tranny fluid. i want the smooth shifting with max protection of my synchros and gears.

I was wondering who has Redline or Diaqueen 6speed fluid and how do you like or dislike it. i would like to get more info on both. also what is a good place to order the 6 speed fluid?

I will never use Redline again.

Enjoy:

10,000 miles on the fluid. 1 Auto-X and 2 trips to the 1/4 mile strip.

i've used the oem fluid that came in the car, drained that around 10k it was black

put in Redline MT90 after the recommendation from shep. Shifting was just like stock.

drained it around 25k had a bit of black come out and the rest was the clear amberish color of the original fluid.

this time around i got my hands on some Motul 300 synthetic 75-90w gear oil.

it was around 15 dollars a bottle but this stuff is like butter. Much smoother than the MT90. I haven't had a chance to try the superdiaqueen yet.

but i have nothing bad to say about either MT90 or the Motul yet. Motul is smoother IMHO though

Yeah, that's pretty weird that you're changing your fluid at 6,500 miles, but if you like to up keep your Evo, good for you.

I got the 6spd MT fluid off of www.mistubishiparts.net. It's like $83 for a gallon and the tranny takes 2.9 liters. I just order it last Friday so I haven't had the chance to put it in and tell you how great it is. But I heard from other members on here that it felt better then any of the other fluid like redline, bg, mobil, or pennzoil.

My Recipe includes:

Motor: 5 quarts Redline Full Synthetic 10W30
Tranny: 3 quarts Redline Light Weight Shockproof
Rear Diff: 1 quart Redline Heavy Shockproof w/1.0 ounce of Redline LSD Additive
Transfer Case: 1 quart Redline Heavy Shockproof

The drivetrain feels really smooth and it eliminated a lot of decel noise and other misc drivetrain noise.

You hear of Redline horror stories because people use the wrong fluids in the wrong places. I've used Redline since the day I got my car with no problems.

AMS and Shep recommended Redline to me so that's what i've used.

Lightweight or Heavy Shockproof? It's a red color out of the bottle, never knew it turns green. Your post said you will never use Redline again, but what's the reason? What kind of problems did you have?

I use the Super Diaqueen in the tranny and I like it much better than the BG II I had been using.

hey guys thanks for the responses. the reason i want to change the fluid is because i like to keep up with my car! and since i always hear of horror stories with failed trannies and TC's i want to make sure that i am doing everything i can to prevent a major failure before i can save enough to get it rebuilt. plus i have taken it to the track a few times for some 1/4 runs and i would like to make the shifting alittle smoother. i plan on rebuilding the TC ,Tranny and replacing the clutch all at once but i have to start saving money for that. preventive maintenance is key! i work on airplanes and thats the same mentality we have in the AirForce.

i'm still kinda torned on it mostly because it is cheaper to use the redline MT90. i'll have to research the Motul.

thanks guys. if you have any more info please post it!

i replaced my tranny/Tc fluids yesterday
.5 quart heavy SP/2.5qt lightweight SP Tranny
.58 Heavy SP TC
I originally had mt90 redline in the tranny and 3/4 would grind sometimes 4/5 above 3000rpms all the time...ran once at the track before a rainout no grinds...drove 40 miles no grinds in either gear...Shockproof does amazing wonders...ive had the 4-5 grind since i got the car...and now its gone

SuperDiaqueen, BG Synchroshift II, and Redline MT90 are all good fluids.....some have good results with certain fluids while others may not. Best way is to just try and see. I had a 4th gear grind at high rpms and drove it for a couple weeks on the MT90 and eventually it just dissapeared. Just changed my fluid today and used the MT90 again, i love it. I've tried the BG and it's pretty good but I have to order it & it's a little more expensive. So i picked up the MT90 at the parts store for $8.95/qt . I think it's a little thicker than the BG, and hell if Shep recommends it it's gotta be good stuff!
