Time to start adding HP

Okay so I'm new to this whole forum thing so take it easy on me. My evo MR just turned 2 and it's time to make it more fun. I was thinking of upgrading the turbo, fuel system, exhaust and such. I was wondering what are the better brands and models of stuff to put on, I also am not too sure where I need to start but want to end up around 600whp. I already replaced the clutch with an ACT good to around 550hp because the stock one is lame. Any info or help is greatly appriciated. Thanks

you need to start deciding on what mods you are doing around the turbo. They're called supporting mods. Turbo is the last thing, if you upgrade it you won't see huge differences since you're not going to run the turbo at it's potential. First start with an exhaust, mbc, fuel pump, and finally search before you go big.

I'm currently doing the same you are, but I'm going for 500whp haha. Like said above, I'm starting with all of my supporting mods. FMIC, MBC, fuel pump, injectors, cams, valve springs, meth, exhaust, and clutch. I decided to go with the ETS T3 58 trim turbo kit. I talked with Tom at ETS and he was very helpful and informative and I felt comfortable and confident with going with them. You would have to go with a bigger turbo, like a 35r, to reach that 600whp mark though. You'll also want to look into getting a AEM EMS to achieve the most power and potential out of your car.

you have an essentially stock EVO (~235whp) that you want to turn into a 600whp monster???

You might want to start with maxing out your stock turbo first with ALL supporting mods (HINT: the right mods/brands can be found by searching the newbie section here...) - a full bolt-on stock turboed Evo with a good tune is no joke, and has a great powerband for the street.

Also, if you were interested in putting down 600hp at the wheels, then I assume you are ready to run either race gas or meth/alky injection, either one of those will bring a stock turboed Evo very close to 390-400awhp/400+wtq... Oh, you'll also need built internals - more $$$...

Anyway, just something to think about.

I personally think the other way around. I would decide what turbo I would want to end up with first. The turbo in many cases will dictate your supporting mods. Understand that if you want to make 600awhp your going to have to do more than just power mods. I have similar goals as you and a few weeks ago I had an issue with my transmission. Long story short I'm changing it to a 5spd rebuilt by Shepard because its stronger. You're also going to need a better clutch.

you will need cams, most likely a dual fuel pump set up, TBE, a new front mount with all the piping, injectors, and the turbo. Once again depending on the size of the turbo you may want to get the head ported as well as looking into standalone EMS.

It also depends on if the car is your daily driver or not. if you wanna make 600awhp on pump gas or race gas. depends on the boost you wanna run. And also if you like meth/water/alky/nitrous injection.

Figure out your goals first. If you need some help feel free to PM or IM me. Also, Tom from ETS is an excellent resource for deciding on which specific turbo you should choose

So everyone kinda said the same thing, new cams, cam gears, downpipe, and such. Anyone know where I could get some good prices? I wanna do about 2K worth of work at a time so it doesn't drag out forever. Thanks for everyones input.

Find out who you want to work with, a few of the big names, AMS, Buschur Racing, ETS to name a few.

AMS has SICK SICK SICK prices on their turbo kits right now!!!

You can buy anything from a 50 trim all the way to a 37R turbo for $3995.

Check under AMS SALE on the right hand side, there intercoolers and piping and exhaust is all on sale.

Might be something perfect for you to jump on.

If you have questions you can pm me as I am running 500 whp... I have been through the stages of upgrades.

ETS, Bushur, and AMS are three of the big companies out there that have come out with high quality parts and kits, check them out. I'm going with the ETS T3 58 trim myself.

You'll need deep pockets to make that kind of HP and maintain it.
