Is this a sign of my clutch going out?

This is my first time posting,I have been viewing this forum for about six months now and it sure seems that there are some intelligent people on here. So I bringing my Evo in this week to have it checked out, but the problem is that when I am in gear and I step on it the RPM's Rev. but it takes a second for the car to move and I am not talking about turbo lag. It is like something is slipping in the tranny, I have no problems shifting into any of the 5 speeds, like I said it is when I step on it the boost kicks in. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for reading.

Thanks guy's, that is what I was thinking but I am a newbie to the evo and wasn't sure what was the problem. Anyone know about what it costs to replace.
I am guessing around $1500. God I hope it isn't anymore than that. But thanks for the reply.
Peace.

depends on what you decide to replace it w/...? Oem, Aftermarket...and which company you are gonna buy from and the type of power you will eventually want to make. Oem from the dealership is gonna ream you in the **** btw. Get something you arent gonna regret buying months down the road.

What do you suggest I do? I am on my way to the dealership to get a diagnosis. Now I am thinking of going to the local speed shop (mynes) after the mitsubishi dealership quotes me a price.thanks for the input bro, we have the same Evo color too.Just bought mine six months ago.

The stealership will say what they are told to say: Simply, "We cannot replace the clutch under warranty due to it being a wear and tear item, and we can find evidence of user abuse to the clutch." This is a common problem, and mitsu is very aware of it, so the dealers are told to deny most warranty clutch work. PS: the dealership will of course cost 10x what you can get it done for somewhere else.

take a drive to Vivid racing and talk to them. They can do the clutch and give you a good price on a new one.

i just got my clutch replaced for an ACT racing clutch. It cost me 1150 including parts and labor. It depends very much where you are located. But, if your car has ran out of warranty with mitsubishi, i recomend you do not change it with them! they will overcharge you for that service. and they do not give warranty on clutches. so just find a good shop around your area and you gonna end up saving money. Dont do it with somebody your not sure with tho, u might regret it.

good luck!

Yeah,I brought it to the dealership and they quoted me 2100.Then I called Vivid and they laughed when I told them that.Anyways I am bringing it to them tommorrow and he said that it should be around a grand. They are running a special on products to first time customers of 40 percent off products(my clutch) and like 85 hr. for the labor.

B/c I know the right people and have awesome friends I got mine done for cheap. I go the ACT HD w/ sprung 6 puck disk. The clutch is rated at over or around 500ft/lbs so that was more than enough for me. I will be stiffer, but if you like to drag occasionally or all the time for the money its a good one. Anyways, I got my whole clutch done including the cost of the clutch for just under $700. I would recommend this clutch if you don't plan on going over 450whp or so. Not too bad to DD either, a lot nicer to DD than my 2600 was on my 2g.
