Need advice on cam upgrade (from hks264)

Looking for some suggestions here.

I'm going up to BR for Bushwacker Trans, Exedy rebuild to trip disc, coilovers and some misc things.....

I currently have HKS 264 cams. I'm thinking this might be a good time to upgrade to Cosworth cams + needed valvetrain stuff. I'm going to guess this will cost around 800-1000 + labor. I'm tuning with the stock ECU and run 100% 100octane.

Would this be worth the money? I'm wanting to max out this setup as much as possible while getting supporting stuff for a larger turbo.

I would personally do the gsc 280's or hks 280's, then you can keep the stock valvetrain.

Cheers!

I forgot to add that lol. Valvetrain is fairly cheap tho right? 300 bux from what I've seen. I have no clue what labor would be tho.

I'm shooting for 10.99999 or as close as I can get.

i havent had the chance to run the cosworth cams, however....

IMO gsc s1, once tuned = great drivability & tip-in throttle response like the 264's with power like the 280's

while using a tme turbo & ported everything while using a aem ecu, i have optimized the following cams on 91 octane:

oem @ -5/-5, hks 264's @ -2/-2, hks 272/264 @ -2/0, hks 272's @ -2/-1, hks 280's @ -3/0, gsc s1 @ -3/-1

you'll be happy with the gsc s1's, 2nd best IMO???? i need to do more testing! if your after midrange 280/272 or top end 272/280.........

280's are fine as long as you dont mind loosing initial "get-up & go" from a stop light/sign.

What larger turbo do you think you'll ultimately end up with?

I really need to do some research on GSC's. I'm looking for across the board gains... but mostly up top for drag racing... Aggressive is good but I need to be able to tune with stock ecu.

I will be going to a 3065 or 35R next year.... probably go with BR272 cams when that happens. The motor will be out and built so it wont be a huge deal to swap cams again.

Will you be having the cylinder head ported when you rebuild the engine?

i have the Comp 280's and installed them myself. I highly recommend them. If you can, or you have a friend who knows a little about cars, you may want to save some money on laboe and do it yourself. It took us about 1/2 a day.

Hks

I have a set of HKS 280s that will be removing from my car in the next few days. I just ordered Jun 272s.
Let me know if you want them. They have about 1,500 miles on them.

I will check out the m2's for sure. Hopefully I can talk to Dave to get his opinion too.

Head will be out and ported polished etc... for sure.

I've seen some bad things about comp's quality control.. not sure if this is changed :\

I can do it myself no problem but if Dan@Buschur already has the car apart... might as well let him do it

I'm a little scared of buying used cams but I'll keep that in mind!

Just get those BF 272's. If that is out of the question, just do the Cosworths for the time being, or some 280 HKS's. If I had and VIII I would do Revolvers... I love the idle from those things

**EDIT** IMO stay away from GSC
