Raced, in the cold..oil light randomly comming on..car not boosting/running like shi
Please spare a few seconds to read this. So my car was sitting in the cold for a good few hours. As was leaving, 1 minute later an sti pulls up next to me. We race from a stop, 5th gear hits, my car doesn't boost..the oil light comes on, and so does the effing brake light..and another but I cant remember because they all went off in less than a second. Now, when my turbo spools, boost doesn't hit. and when I come to a stop my car idles out and the oil light comes on. when I accelerate the oil light goes off. and when I lightly press the gas there's a horrible fluttering noise, it doesn't sound like its comming from the BOV. Thanks very much in advance.
dont really know but maybe a boost leak or a vacuum line came off. do a boost leak test. Did you check the oil? Is there any smoke coming from the exhaust or anywhere else. maybe the turbo is blown from it being too cold before you raced. Also there are a couple oil lines going to the turbo. maybe one burst or sprung a leak of some kind. good luck. and in the future make sure your engine is completely warmed up before you get on it. this includes the trans. also, turbo cars run better and are faster when warm. hot gases move faster.
kind of similar incident happened to me, but it was never in the cold. i just got the 272 camshafts put in and now every time it idles the oil light comes on. turns out it is a common problem w/ putting in the shafts because it's got an unsteady idle. but good luck
Putting your car through its paces ONE minute after starting it is asking for trouble.
It takes at least 5 mins to get the coolant temp needle to the center mark and then I usually wait another 10 minutes before romping on the gas.
