spiking to 30psi and dropping to 27psi on stock injectors,pump gas,and block is retarded.to do that high with pump you will need meth.i run 22psi on 92 octane no meth and i layed down 420awhp.
and a evo at 30psi with the right set up will do 600awhp but not all evos with 30psi neccesarily means 600awhp.now a 2.3L with head,etc etc with 30psi will do 600awhp,now you put my setup with stock block,head etc etc and run race gas and 30psi,wont make 600awhp.boost does not equal a hp number,you have to have the right set up as well.
if i was him i would get it tuned for lower boost,and just cruise for a few.drop a AEM in it and 1000cc,and retune and he will be happy.i personally wouldnt go over about 23psi on straight pump gas.
its all in the tune,ive seen pump gas 35R evos dyno between 400-450awhp..and sometimes the evos with more mods actually dyno less then some others.
such as 2 other 35R evos with more mods then me dynoed at 401 and 407awhp.and another evo with a stroker etc with straight pump dynoed 3hp more then me..i dont know who your friends tuner is but doesnt know what hes doing tuning that high on pump gas

any car with boost spiking and not being stable is making more knocks then Horsepower in my opinion. Always keep the boost at the level it is stable at for max hp and reliability. Just my opinion..
im trying to figure out how my buddy has an evo ix spiking to 30psi and falling to 26-27psi on 93 octane. here is the good part, this is with stock injectors and a 35r .63 turbine. it is running on a reflash with 100% duty cycles. he did just buy a set of 880's but are not installed yet. we did a hwy pull vs. my fd rx-7 and he was at my rear bumper from 50-140mph. i trap 122mph in the 1/4 so im guessing he is around 120-121mph. so that gives you a figure on how fast it is. i see many 22psi 30r/35r doing these speeds. i believe his tuner is pulling timing but why not just run less boost? btw whats a guess on his whp?

he still needs to be re-tuned..and you cant get hp numbers by who you beat.i have beaten a lot of cars with more power then me,sometimes almost 100whp.so you cant go by how much boost he has and who he keeps up with to go by his power level.
