hi im new to the forum, i just picked up a 2003 lancer evolution gsr a week ago with 62000 miles on it.

well onto my problem, there is occasionally a loud ping noise shifting from gears 1st to 2nd and to 3rd. also my 5th gear at high rpm's grinds even when im shifting as slow and carefully as possible.

i know im going to have to take it somewhere to get this problem fixed but i just wanted to know if anyone had any of the same problems?

 

hmmm sounds like a synco problem ... when i first got my 03 evo 8 barrings went bad in the tranny that was fun but that gave me a loud whinning noise when i down shifted dont know how that happend but sounds like syncos ban good luck
