600+ftlbs cars, please help choose a clutch

What are you high torque/horsepower guys using? I'm tired of spending $4,000 on a clutch that isn't worth a crap.

I am looking to replace my clutch but every time I read about another clutch company, I keep reading about huge issues other people are having.

I have had 2 Exedy TRIPLE CARBONS. The first lasted a little while and started having issues and now the latest triple carbon has only been in for about 3-4K miles and it won't hold the torque and power.

Before you ask, yes we are slipping the clutch to heat it up before making a pull.

What clutch are you using and at what torque level are you at?

I'd use either the Exedy Triple HD cerametalic or the Tilton.

Clutch

I'm pushing over 640 on Buschur's dyno and been down your road before with other clutches.I have yet to have this Tilton, 4000 dollar clutch miss a beat yet..This clutch is worth it's weight in gold, never heard anything bad about it.

Go with the ceramics for street driving. I went thru the Tilton Carbon Carbon fast with street driving. The Tilton is for the track. The Excedy Tripple Ceramic is a good choice for what your doing

Stock clutch, it's the best. 600 hp no problem for the stock one.

Without a doubt I would consult Buschur for many reasons:

They have the most experience
They are sponsoring you
They built cars with much power than you

It kind of suck to hear your issues, I specially feel sympathy for you because I like to drag race a lot and I am always dreaming for the perfect clutch that will last a lot, will take the abuse, will perform good and wouldn't be too expensive.

I am apologizing ahead of time but I must ask you a important question, do you think your clutch could possibly not being installed porperly?
I read on this forum from people having a triple disc installed and once fully installed only one disc actually engaging due to defctuous installation.

Best of luck regardles of what you do. As far is my opinion, try RPS or ATS (known as carbonetics), they do sell carbon clutch kits with some strong warranty statements.

Are you aware there are two compounts of carbon offered? I bought the "long wear" version for my 600/550 car 5 years ago. I still have not reshimmed it once. very little wear when I inspect it. You may have been sold the fast wearing race material. My clutch arrived holding 915 ft lbs on the test bench when cold. And you could clearly see the plates were not fully seated in. And they hold more hot.

Ceramatallic material is not designed to be slipped at all. I have have found them to wear quickly on the street. I have used singles and twins in my low 400 HP evo1 and was very disappointed in how fast the material wears in just a few months use.

I am not hard on clutches. My driving techniques are tops at minimizing slip under all conditions.
