What type of 4ga wire is usually used? Thanks for the diagrams. Now it will be easy to do it myself instead of paying $100+

My .02, that is pretty lame. They repeatedly grounded the head to the cover.
I think spreading it ou would be better. Like the alternator, etc.

Nice of someone to finally post the instructions though.

I went with the lineage so I had to figure out a pattern. It is on the ftp if you want to check it out. I did it based on grounding in many different locations to ground the head, the alternator, Intake and body. I have a total of three of the five connected to the battery.

Thanks for posting those!

The Lineage instructions say to ground in at least 5 points in their instructions. I will try to get it scanned.

I installed mine similar to the way timzcat did, but I used the rear engine hanger as a connection point to avoid possible heat damage to the grounding wires. The instructions are very similar in the Mitsu grounding locations, but I agree that it seems overly focused on the head and valve cover. I added an extra cable to the Lineage kit to ensure my coil was grounded for the best spark. Mine looks like a combination of timzcat's and the Mitsu. I also grounded the engine block as Lineage instructed.

I did not do the alternator, but plan to add another cable to add it into the mix. The lineage instructions suggested the alternator as an optional point, seems like a good place to include...

OK...color me stupid, by why all the grounding? I realize proper grounding is necessary for good electronics function, but is Mitsubishi saying their first attempt is not very good? Cars with upgrades need more?
Thanks.

This modification apparently works on many makes of cars and kits are sold as universal grounding kits... I feel that mitsu should have simply used better factory wiring if this mod makes such a differnce, which it did for me.

I did the alternator upper mounting bolt which kind of kills 2 spots at once. The bolt holds the alternator to the block.

The point to the grounds is to improve the grounding on the car. The reason why no manufacturer puts a lot into this is bean counters. $1 per vehicle over 100,000 or so is a lot of money. They do what is necessary and that is it. Everyone who has grounded addtionally has seen some benefit.
