Evo 8 Mr Vs Evo 9 Turbo?????

Okay so I have an 8 MR. 16g w/10.5 hotside... I also just bought a setup that has a 9 turbo on it. 16g w/10.5 hotside.

My question is... with the 9 turbo having a bigger compressor housing.. does this achieve more HP??

I just need to know if putting on the evo 9 turbo is going to give me better numbers than my 8 w/10.5 hotside??

Is the Ix's power based off of the turbo or is it just the MIVEC?

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Id honestly have to say mostly MIVEC, but after riding in an 05 VIII with the 10.5 and a friends Evo IX (all with the same mods. The VIII actually has an upgraded FMIC and the IX doesnt) the IX was smoother and faster hands down and the turbo on the IX just felt better. Cant really explain it, but the IX turbo should make more power over the VIII turbo.

The IX turbo for the win! The IX turbo has a more efficient compressor housing design than the VIII turbo does. The topend flow should be better, resulting in a potential 10-15 WHP difference. Go for it!

Yup, 10-20whp gains over the VIII turbo w/ 10.5 hotside, so you'll be happy just swapping that in. Upgrade it to an evo green for more significant gains, but just swapping in the IX turbo is a nice way to make a little more power.

remember with the FP to add injectors (min 750cc, right?) and a good tune + 9 installation kit (revised lines since the compressor housing is bigger). . .I'm holding out on adding the FP green. . .and hoping it'll add 40awtq at 24psi!!

I did the swap on my eight and it was worth it. Stronger mid range and it could hold more boost up top. Spool was about the same. If you put the 9 snail on an 8 you will need the 9 outlet pipe too. Also recommended to add the tubular O2 housing at the same time.

Where have you been buddy. This is common knowledge. Just look at the picture. While you have the 9 turbo unbolted, I would send it in for the FP evo Green turbo.

Isn't the one on the right the evo green? Note the 5-blade compressor wheel...

The IX turbo should be 15-20whp over the VIII turbo.. Do a search, theres dyno sheets somewhere on the forum
