EVO9 Dyno Results - Pump vs Race
Today the Central Wisconsin Sports Car Club visited Beyond Redline Performance Center for a dyno meet. www.beyondredline.com Excellent facility and well versed staff.
It was one of those deals were you get three back to back logged pulls on the cheap. No significant tuning just a map change or minor adjustment.
The dyno is proprietary but for reference it reads about smack dab between mustang dyno and dynojet. (mustang -> BRPC -> dynojet)
My tunes were built by me in addition with hand holding from many people on this forum. I am one of the very few that like to block tune. Call me lazy if you want but I prefer the results I get this way. I take criticism well so feel free to "assist" me by making recommendations.
A few things about the car. Its and EVO9 with $300 ebay turbo back exhaust (factory O2 housing). I have a home brew tune on the car. Boost is controlled by the ECU on stock parts less the#65 boost pill near the turbo. That its. I even have a virgin factory air box and filter. My race gas consists of 4 gallons of 93 mixed with 4 gallons of 110 leaded turbo blue.
The first pull was made on straight 93 with my open track lapping day map. I have used this tune during 30 minute session on 90* days and not seen knock.
The second pull was done using my race fuel blend on my race gas lapping day map. Its basically my pump gas map with a little timing, more boost, tad more aggressive mivec map, and one point leaner AFR. Even spiking the boost to 25lbs the most boost I could get out of the turbo at redline was 20 psi.
The third pull was another famous recipe race gas mix with minor tweaks. The 110 maps I am posting include the tweaks.
Both maps are tame for my car. I could probably add 2* more and still not see knock but this is not a drag car.
Here are the numbers:
1. pump gas tune 21psi spike
317WHP 314WTQ
2. race gas tune 25psi spike
347WHP 344WTQ
3. race gas tune #2 tweeked 25psi spike
349WHP 353WTQ
I'm posting the first two pass dyno sheets. The last one printed out kinda light so I may have to trace it to post it.

who the hell tuned that thing ?
nevermind... i read
lol.... bring your car down here when you move to NC, let me get a crack at it non block tuned and see if you like it any better, but still some nice numbers

i guess it goes to show that block tuning the fuel table can work sometimes.... timing is where you make your money anyway. Its only that some tuners block tune the timing as well lol... not pointing any fingers
You should probably label your 110 map 101 since that race gas mixture is is an avg of 101.5 just a friendly suggestion
I am curious about the afr and the numbers in the high octane fuel map. On your 93 map your numbers in the map are 9.5 and in the 110 map are 9.8. Is the .3 difference the main reason between the 11:1 and 12:1 afr? So the 9.5 on the 93 map really is 11.1 right? I am still learning about tuning and have used the RS mivec map and so far I like it.

there are way better mivec maps than the RS mivec out now.... the map he is using is very similar to the one that TTP uses. Its very aggressive and a nicely built map. (the ttp map) .... his is close to it though.
What about the relation of the afr numbers in the map versus the 11:1 and 12:1 question I asked as well. You seem to know more than me obviously..any help?

its hard to read for me on the screen, but on his fuel map for 93, it seems as though it reads 9.0 in the 280 and 300 cell and then 9.8 in the 260. On his racegas map, he changed his 280 and 300 to 9.8 dropping .8 in fuel leaning it out. It seems to me looking at his a/f curve that the numbers written at the bottom are his AFR's at peak HP, not throughout the curve. He looks like mid 11.5's thru the curve then richens a bit up top making the bigger difference in 11.1 to 12.1. Id say throughout his curve on the race gas he is 12.3 or so then 12.1 by redline. Timing plays a part in the fuel curve as well. I think in his pump map his mivec needs to be adjusted in order to help with that dip in boost to flatten it out. Other then that, whatever works works. I think also the fuel may look like that as well because of the actual octane value of the fuel mixture
If you have any questions, post them, im sure he will answer or any of the other evoM tuning gurus... i know enough to do what i do
.... but i wouldnt call myself a guru.

The AFR changed because more boost was added and its a different mivec map. On my third run I actually fattened the AFR back up. I was a tad leaner than 12:1. I also tried to add wastegate duty cycle at 6k + but it didn't really help.
In all reality the map looks highly blocked but you'll never really hit most of the cells that are on the map.
