i am running the SSQBOV, yes it can VTA and recirc. but you need to kit for recirc. I have had my evo for over a 1.5yrs, ran 24psi on stock. and currently have a GT35 and running 26+ with no problems. Never stalled out, or had idle problems. Even ran the SSQbov on my GST with no problems in VTA, with no GM maf/maft.

Reason why you should recirc. is because the stock ECU takes into account the extra surge of air comming in from the bov, Which causes you to run rich between shifts. Hince having stalls, and also idle problems later in the future. The GM Maf and MAFT, will let you run in VTA if setup properly.

i have hks ssqv and no problems so far, idle fine and no stalling.
i think there is loads of fake ssqv on the market, identical look but bad quality(ebay ones) and they are the ones not holding the boost.

I've run the SSQ on my old GST recirculated, then vented with a MAFT and currently on my Evo vented (need to fab a new intake), but previously recirculated. I've never had a problem with it recirculated. I've also seen it used in 2 supras owned by friends, and a TT LT1 Firebird without a single issue between them. Vented it had the problems I expected, but taking 10 mintues to lean it out down low fixed the stall issue. I've owned 2 of them, both recirculated, and never had a leak anywhere. It's comparable to the Tial as far as quality and the ability to hold boost is concerned. There's a reason so many of the Supra guys run them.
They get a very undeserved wrap on the Evo boards. It's well made and solidly designed. The make and model of car it's used in has nothing to do with it and honestly, it's kind of ignorant to assume that is the problem. Almost every BOV on the market uses 1 of 2 basic designs to operate. I wouldn't recommend venting it unless you absolutely have to though.

Bought my car with an EBAY knock off HKS and it was VTA car would die when shifting! So I can attest to the truth to that! Get a real one and Recirc!

I didn't realize this was 3+ years old post, MY BAD!
