Tial BOV battery relocation issue?
Tial BOV battery relocation issue?
Ok, so I'm corresponding via email with a guy at a tuner shop, and was asking if they had a Tial BOV. They do, but when he responded, he said there was battery relocation issue, and recommended a different one (HKS SSQV kit).
Now I'm pretty sure that the battery being in the back and the BOV being in the front, there wouldn't be an issue.. I google'd it, and the first page didn't return any relevant results, so I decided to ask here.
So what I'm asking is:
1. Is he wrong?
2. Is the HKS SSQV a better choice over the Tial BOV?

I would say no it isn't. Tial is 50mm which is much larger than the HKS. It works well and sounds good. I did have to use a 9 lb spring and shim it with some vacuum hose to get the tension just right though.

I have the HKS SSQV that's vented. No problems ever. I've never used the Tial but always heard that it's a very good valve, and I do like the sound of it. The HKS is very responsive and sounds good when it dumps at full boost, plus you can always change the sound by taking out the fin.
The thing I like about the SSQV is that you don't have to worry about changing springs at all and it's impossible for it to leak.

The difference between the two is the fact that the Tial holds higher boost more steadily than the HKS. I've had both BOV's and I'd choose the Tial with a 9 lb spring. (about 37lb boost holding capability)
BTW: I think he's just trying to get rid of the HKS in stock.

2. No way in heck a SSQV is better than a Tial.
+1 on that. I asked several shops (AMS, Cobb, etc) via PM what was the best BOV for the Evo X and they said the stockers good up to about 450whp. After that, get the Tial Alpha Q recirc BOV
